a couple questions
« on: June 05, 2005, 03:52:10 am »
If Yliakum is a stalactite in a giant cave, and many races lived in the cave, then why did the races except krans and lemurs come from another world? Is there like a whole universe in this cave or are the races that lived in the cave not in Yliakum?

Are the bronze doors, the entrance to the stone labryinths, the \"portal\" that the races came into Yliakum with? If so then how did it get there? Supposedly some of it is naturaly there but how did the rest get there? Did the krans and lemurs build it? And if they did build it then why build like that? couldn\'t someone just walk out of the doors and fall off the stalactite? or is there some sort of stairs down to the bottom of the cave?

Since the first two levels are inside the top of the cave and streams come from the top of the cave, then is there some sort of river above the cave and water gets into the stalactite through cracks in the top of the cave or something like that? What if the streams eventually flooded all of Yliakum?

If the crystal hangs on the \"ceiling\" of the first level then how does it go through the \"floors\" of all the other levels to get light to all eight levels?

1)
races came through portals from other worlds, explored the labyrinths and found Yliakalum. Lemurs and Krans were created by Laanx and Talad
2)
Talad and laanx created the portals. the labyrinths are naturally formed, perhaps they are limestone?
3)
stairs connnect all of the levels, and you probably could fall off
4) perhaps there is an ocean on  the surface of the planet. the streams are kept regulated by lemurs, and blue mages would control a disaster of this magnitude
5) the magic from the crystal is so powerful, it can pierce the ground and the light just goes through the ground.

my answers. prove me wrong because i probably am ^^

The stone labyrinths were there along with the mystic creatures that were there before Laanx and Talad arrived. Noone that we know of, built it, but they weren\'t made by nature.

The reason you can\'t just dig a hole into the wall and then fall out of Yliakum is 1) because the walls are very thick, and 2) because the upper level walls go straight into the ground, not into the emptyness of a big cave, and the reason the light reaches all levels is because the levels don\'t shadow out eachother. Like this:

Behold my great illustration. Anyway, the round thing connecting the two sides is supposed to show that the stalagtite is round, and the levels are all the way around, and not just on both sides, and since the cave is connected to the first level, you don\'t fall off by going into it, as it goes through the ground itself.

The reason why Yliakum isn\'t flooded is like I drew on the map. It\'s got a big hole in the bottom where the water runs out, but it does have tides so sometimes the water covers the 7th level entirely, and other times it doesn\'t.

And the reason that the world keeps having water is because the world is round, so the water runs out on the bottom of it and then moves up to the top and starts falling down again. :)

What might not be completely obvious in Kiva\'s diagram is that the levels are hollow. If you were on the first level and moved towards the center of Yliakum, you would fall through the middle all the way to the bottom. Each level has a special \'Winch\' connecting two adjacent levels, which people use to travel and trade with other levels.

The water escapes from the bottom of the stalactite to Kadaikos (sp?) below, which is the name of the cave (I think). Directly beneath Yliakum is Laanx\'s followers\' capital city, and the home of the Lemurs.

(If the cave isn\'t called Kadaikos, then the city is. I can\'t remember at the moment. Kiva knows more about that than I do, and I have nexus access :P)

Well, my Lady, wrong on half the accounts. :P

1 is right. 2 is wrong, Vodul created the Portals. Laanx and Talad do not understand how they work. 3 is right, imagin it as a stadium, the levels being the seating, only fewer and bigger. 4....um I don\'t know where you came up with that, but the Crystal being under water is an interesting concept. 5 is wrong, the light does not pass through the ground. However, I assume that its power can, or the caves would be devoid of life.

Kiva tells me that that cave is called Pradesha, though I\'m still not so sure, and that the ten cites of the Lemur are inside it. You\'ll to have to ask Darkmoon about it though, as I am in the dark yet. Grrr.

Most of your questions can be found by reading the Story/history/races page on the main site. :)

I\'ve scooped through my memory and I think I was wrong when saying Kadaikos is the town and Pradesha is the cave. Sorry Moony, but like I told you in that PM, I sometimes switch things around. Anyway, my memory now tells me Kadaikos is the cave, and Pradesha is the \"capital\" of the ten Lemur towns, which is pretty much only one big town, because they all ended up building into eachother. Or something like that. That does sound more right now that I mention it, yes...
