Updater: Small Request

For the Gui can you disable the update button or put in something to say that it is still working?

right now after clicking update I do not know if it is still downloading or finished.

1. As soon as you click \"updating\", the message \"Downloading registry...\" appears and the update starts.
2. As soon as the update is finished, the message \"Update complete\" appears.

Aren\'t those pretty good indicators for whether the update still runs or not?

Skipping \'YesNo\' because it\'s already loaded
NOTIFY: psUpdaterEngine initialized.
Checking file art/world/laanx.zip/spark.png.. No action (Not found)
Checking file art/effects/flame01.tga.. Move
Checking file art/effects/flame02.tga.. Move

So you can see my concern about messages as I have no clue if it is timing out or what,

God knows where it is pulling them from but it is very slow and I have a 5meg connection.

You could use my updater. It\'s unofficial, but it has a nice GUI interface if that\'s what you\'re looking for. You\'ll also have slightly greater zip file sizes on disk as Java\'s zip compression algorithms suck. :P

If you\'re interested you can find a link to it in this thread. Remember, unofficial. ;)

I used the command line updater specifying -auto and it seems to have worked.
Although in game I\'m getting a lot of error messages about lighting on the console and the game somtimes burps where I pause for a second.

It is quite normal behaviour. Planeshift always gives alot of warnings messages most of them can be safely ignored.

update problem
« Reply #6 on: June 07, 2005, 12:42:01 am »
i just finished updating PlaneShift for Mac OS X (finally), and when i tried to open the psclient, nothing happened.  what should i do?

i don\'t know if this makes any difference, but there was a message when i began updating telling me it couldn\'t update the updater app., but to install it myself and get it from the forums.  can anyone help and is this why the psclient won\'t open?

btw, it opened before i updated, then told me i needed to update to connect to the server.
