Am i missing something or what?
« on: June 08, 2005, 04:35:38 am »
ive seen people talk about getting skill ranks really high, up to 30 and stuff, and yet it has taken me about two months just to get my mining up ONE rank. are people just starting with actual skill ranks now, or does it just get easier to level once i get better at the game.

Hmm....
Thats a pretty darn long time....
Do you play quite a lot?
Do you kill rats for money and then use the money to pay for your training and then mine for practise bar?
If not then do so!!!
It\'s really the only way to go(especially for those who don\'t play much)

It is admittedly harder in the beginning, especially because the fighting stances don\'t work right now.  (normally, you could fight in defensive mode and newbies could survive against rats)  At this point, your only sources of income are rats, mushrooms, and gold mining.  And, they aren\'t that profitable.  (Platinum mining is much more profitable, but you can\'t reach the mine yet...)  Gobbles drop a couple of trias every now and then, but it\'s really not worth bothering with.  The next stronger monster that drops is ALLOT stronger, so yeah there\'s a bit of a gap.   :P   After that, it gets exponentially easier.

For now, just keep training your sword and light armor skills.  If you didn\'t start with that many useful of skills (many aren\'t yet implemented), there\'s no harm in creating a new character that can better play the game as it currently is.  If you need any other help, please feel free to ask in-game.  You can use the \"/advisor\" command or ask any of the helpful people gathered near Harnquist.

Many people have that problem.  Use the search button to find one of these topics.

Yes, it\'s actually taken me about a week to get my sword up to 30..

The idea being that you kill rats until you have to drop the loot, then sell to harnquist, train your combat with the money, go back and practice it, repeat.

When you can it 11 or so, there is a tefusang in the sewers, he\'s weak enough for most people to attack.. Hits less than a gobble :\\

Training just takes some getting used to, when you\'re used to it you\'ll do what I did (find the 20-30 sword trainer and get there in a day :S )

Hehe..

From the exit behind the tavern, take the broken gate road behind the ladders (the one that leads to some stairs)

Go down the stairs and to the left, then right up the path you see there, around the bend is tefusang.

That\'s where I\'ve been training for a while.. Considering going after wild ones now, though.

Talking about the sewers:

I just played for the first time after the update and it seems that there are nearly no rats in the sewer anymore. Actually in about 30 min. I found a single rat (!) surrounded by about 10 people trying to kill it first.

If this describes the situation correctly there is nothing more for me to do. (no rats -> no money -> no trainig.)

I heard there\'s a rat bug, and most of them had to be taken out.  Either that or it\'s for RP reasons.

We don\'t know what happened.  Many monsters have been appearing in strange places, as if a large teleport spell has been spilling out onto the rest of the land.  An entire section of earth surrounding the ruins has even disapeared completely.  Perhaps it teleported away, perhaps it fell into the lake.

Overhunting.

I haven\'t advanced in mining at all so I gave up on it.  It does take a super long time to train it then.

Ways to make money:

rats
tefu
shrooms
mining
npcs which drop broad swords

I was also paid once to ship food from the tavern to the defenders\' base in oja.

Even a newbie could get there, it take some manuvering but it is possible to get down there without dropping down the well in the temple. Hehehe, sorry, I\'m not going to tell anyone how... you\'ll have to figure it out for yourselves. Of course you need to dodge the clackers, grendols and thugs...
