We are talking about polygons here, not faces. 1 face usually contains 2 polygons. The gems in the low detail version are simple tetrahedrons, and contain 16 polygons each. The blade and the steel part of the hilt are both one object, and currently contain 146 polygons. Now that i think about it i probably wouldnt have to remove the groove. If i perform a Multires operator on the blade i can get it down to slightly over half of the original number of polygons without greatly affecting the appearance. Which brings us down by..... 68 polygons.  Close enough

Here is a 202 polygon version of the sword.

well i don\'t understand faces and polygons and all that 3-d jargon, but it looks really cool. good job, and if that is low enough polys or whatever you should leave it like that cuz it looks good.

Well, now that i have a CS compatible 202 polygon UHP mapped .3ds file of a rather expensive looking sword, does anyone have any idea of what i should call it? Or should i just call it a \"Ceremonial Sword\"?

Well that depends.  If your thinking of making it a unique item then you could call it
\" \'s Bane\"
\"Sword of \"
Blah blah, you get the picture.

But if you\'re hoping to get it into PS, I would leave it as ceremonial sword, unless it\'s used for a specific ceremomy.  Like a wedding/execution type thingy. :)

...I don\'t see any edges.  It looks more like a lance to me.  That and I would like to see it without that reflection.  It\'s hard to see the texture.

As for polys, I know that 4 sided faces = 2 triangle polys, I was using the term loosely.  To be honest, I wouldn\'t have known it had a groove if you hadn\'t said so.  I\'d say either make it bigger or nix it and save some tris.

well well. thats nice !  where did you get the textures !?
and im loving the sword now.  i did have my doubts on the blade.  it did look like a giant needle before you lengthened the handle. and now it looks fine.  good going.

The materials are of my own creation, though some of them utilize the base jpeg textures that come with 3ds Max as diffuse, bump or ref maps.
