The BISM- Information
« on: September 08, 2002, 10:26:58 pm »
As many of you have noticed the BISM site has errors all over it, it is currently being fixed by lokee (who made the site) whom i am very grateful to....but since it is kind ahard right now to  read im gona put all the useful information here....

What We Do:
The BISM was founded in February 2002(but was in development since December 2001), it is an organization (NOT a guild, and NOT in competition with ANY of the guilds) thats purpose is to do the jobs given to them by other people from planeshift

by jobs we mean basically anything that can be done in planeshift.... such as retrieve some special weapon from some dungeon, or we can even give you our best fighters to team up with you in a party to go adventuring (for protection), or take out some guild that is bothering you (or make them change their ways)

in return the person that we did the job for gives us something of value, the people that helped ACCOMPLISH the job then gets paid depending on how much they helped (members get job at a cheaper price)

These are just some of the benefits you gain for being a member of the BISM:

1. You are supported in almost anything you choose to do (money/people/whatever). For example, say you need a party to finish a quest...you notify someone of the council and we will see if we can gather a group for you. Unless, of course, it is just to make somebody else mad...we do NOT support that.

2. Everytime you succesfully do a job you will be paid. (Usually around half of what we get...sometimes more)

3. If needed to pull off a job we will buy equipment for you.

There are many many more...but you won\'t know what they are til you join(or email me askinkg specifically what benefit you think you want).

The people of the BISM:

In the bism there are good/evil/neutral people working together, if there is a particular thing going on that you do not like, simply do not be a part of it....The council (and myself) will NEVER make you do ANYTHING that you do not wish to do, you just will not get paid....otherwise you will not lose rank or anything

Factions:

To keep things better organzied the BISM is divided into 7 different \"factions\" or parts these are:

The Council - (not recruiting) Leaders of the BISM
The Rogues - Thieves/Assassians/The Darker Peoples
The MerchantsThe Merchants are the people that bring the money to the BISM.  They excel at thier job, whatever it may be, and give some of the profits to us, and in turn, we give them supplies and money from our ventures.
The Mercenaries-The Mercenaries are the for-hire group that can be sent into a dungeon or to invade somewhere.  They are the only group that CAN NOT have any secret members in it.  They are also for-hire to join your party if you are in need of more people in your group.
The Guardians-The Guardians protect the other members of the BISM.  The can also be hired to protect people outside of the BISM....for a price.  They have to be always willing to help those in need and be good at what they do.
The Hunters -(not recruiting) In Training for Council
The Diplomats -makes peace and alliances with other people/guilds.  They make sure that we do not have any enemies....by any means necessary.

EVERY faction has at least 2 members, and the only other member of The Council is Lokee, who also leads The Mercenaries....ALSO each faction besides Mercenaries, THe Hunters, and The Council, are looking for leaders if you want to have a high pos. better join now  :D

Recruiting:
Sooner or later The BISM is going to be limiting the recruiting to people that we KNOW and trust (may change)

Guilds:
We are looking to \"merge\" with other guilds, this means that the guild has some of their members join us (exact # of members that have to join may vary , according to how many members there are) and in return we aid them whenever it is needed, full support including money/people, also jobs are taken at a cheaper price.  (this reminds me, check out Hellsing , dont anyone be messin with them  :D )

I think thats it, ive tried to make it as easy to read as possible, which is hard considering its all in one post, i might be changing to correct some mistakes and other things.....

oh well, if you still have trouble understanding you might still want to try the website: http://bism.levillage.org its all messy though

more info??: ohthatguykiern@hotmail.com

EDIT: oh yea, we have over 15 members, maybe over 20....i havent counted recently but i know its somewhere above 15 ;)

This thought just occured to me, I\'m not trying to be critical or anything just thought of it.  You say that you merge with other guilds, and  that by doing this you will back them up with anything.  What would happen if, for example two guilds that you merged with before suddenly started to hate each other and go to war.  Who whoud you help or would you just stay out of it?

This is just a theoretical (sp?) question, I think your ideas are interesting.

good question....it all really depends on the person and guild it is, if, for example, we had been having problems iwht someone or a guild that has \"merged\" with us or they have not done anything to help us out, we will more than likely take the otehr persons side

or we could give it to the rest of the bism and they decide which guild they want to go for, since i have put that we are voluntary they do what they want

otherwise we\'ll just stay out of it

that of course is just my opinion, it will be voted on by The Council just so i know the  rest of the peoples opinions (each member of the council leads a faction) then i will decide how we will go forward

also, all questions are welcome, it helps me to think of what could happen and how to improve.......in other words, im open to shots  :D

EDIT: I just checked and i count 18 people that are in The BISM, there are like 4 or 5 older people who never signed up for the new site and i manually made like 3 peoples names so im not sure if i counted them either....

thats kind of the whole point, BISM just allows you another opportunity to make money, though in the future guilds may not allow members of the BISM to join

Vlidaar is right, that is basically the whole point of the bism is to offer ways to make money and be part of a big organization

and yes, you might want to check with the guild leader, but i dont think there are any guilds that are restricting memberships right now

I\'m interested in joining BISM. I\'m not sure what the qualifications are but I hope I do indeed qualify. The organization is a rather good idea.

I agree, it seems that joining a normal guild brings much more responsibilities and rules to watch out for.
<Worf> These are the moments when my ego gets put back on the ground. I use linux for quite some time, and am soon 2 years maintainer of a linux distribution. I started to think I would be good at it. But then I tried to get planeshift running.

Hmmm.. Ii\'m interested in joining the BISM and becoming a mercenary. Howerver, I don\'t think I\'ll have a lot of time to help much, but I\'ll manage to get some time anyways.

So... what are the qulifications?

At the moment we do not have any qualifications except that we like you, we will not accept a member that has a problem with any of the council

but that is it at the moment as we need more members, soon though, the bism will become invitation only but we can not really judge anyone until the game is in beta at least

as for the time willing to put into us, that is totally up to you, you could be like lokee and help us out a lot, or you could just join and not do anything until you want to, since we are not a guild we cant really force you to do anything  :D

which reminds me, thanks to lokee for remaking the site: http://bism.tk  :D

bism is a heck of alot better than any of these guilds out here. Its extremely unique and different than anything that has been around in mmorpgs. You should praise kearns great ideas for creathing this thing. (i cant believe i just said to praise kearn 8o ) well anyway i think this is better. Though i do think hellsing and princess alya site is really great looking.
