What the heck is wrong?
« on: June 15, 2005, 03:27:30 am »
Okay, I downloaded the game, followed Cha0\'s advice for updating, (used the .jar\'s they worked great!) and so I have created a character. I use my character and I get to the loading screen, the bar fills up (loads) and then it goes empty giving me a blank bar, again and it won\'t load anything. Is this my router/firewall? Is it something I did wrong with the updater? Help? Please? Thanks in advance.

You need to keep waiting. There are additional files to load and they load differently. Be patient and it should finish.

It doesn\'t look like it\'s loading at all for the last bits (this is just how it is). But it still should be. Run it in windowed mode and make sure you keep PS as the focused window. Have console open in the background and check it every few minutes for errors. Make sure to refocus on PS, though as it pauses when it loses focus.

And yes, it can take over 5 minutes, depending on your computer and settings.

Excuse the noob question. Where\'s the console? How do I find it? it runs in windowed mode by default for me. Also could the loading time be changed? Not by me,  but for like the final version.

The game is just naturally large. I doubt the loading times will come down for the final release. The only suggestion I have for this is to get a faster computer.

As far as the Console... you can find it in /Applications/Utilities/Console(.app) .
Tell me if there\'s any useful output from it.

Loading time will also depend on how much RAM you have - If planeshift needs more than you have, loading will take a very long time.
