Off Topic Art
« on: June 23, 2005, 03:09:16 am »
searched, didn\'t find anything like this.
nightrogue recently made a thread for his off topic art, and i decided i\'d like to do the same, and i didn\'t want to steal his thread.  however, if anyone else wants to post their own off topic art here, feel free.

i\'ve been working on this one on and off for over two years. i just finished it tonight and i am very proud of it.  quite frankly it\'s one of the best pictures i\'ve ever done.  like i said, i started it two years ago, and this was from a warcraft game i\'m sure, but i\'m not sure what it was called. i think it might have been called a dread lord.
anyway, here it is.

edit:
here\'s an imperial (i think that\'s what they\'re called) from morrowind.   i think his head is to big for his body, but i think that\'s the only major issue.

cool, nice work. Two years? I would\'ve stopped worrying after half a year. I\'m working on a pic. A charater called \'Legion\' he\'s cool. i\'ve done a colour version but i\'m going to do a pencil or black art pen version too and eventually make a short movie about him, lol. that\'s going over the top but it\'s a dream, lol
yes... i\'m addicted to smilies :P:):D;), get me mental help peoples....

The \"demon\" is very impressive. Great work mate. As for the second one, well, I think it was better not posting it.

 ;)

Make some practice, you need to learn the proportions of a \"real\" body, and same goes for the face. Make it more realistic, and it will look awesome, you\'ll see.

 Anyway, Good Luck!

I take it the second one was not copied from a picture? The head is large, but also the whole body appears slanted. I think his forearms are rather thin also, they could do with some muscle. :)

The demon is good, obviously (since it was drawn by the Blizzard boys :D) but the shading on yours makes parts difficult to see. Perhaps he needs stronger outlines aswell.

Keep it up. :)

thanks for the comments.
demarthl-not too bad, better than my first try i think(and some of the stuff i do now :D except i don\'t have a tablet... i draw mine with pencil and scanned it in... so that\'s probably even easier for me).

anyway, i know the second one isn\'t as good, but i did in fact use a reference pic. really that\'s how the arms were in the pic, i just made his head too big.  if his head was about 3/4 that size i don\'t think he would look quite so scrawny. (i did the head last, because it was the hardest part for me, not sure if that was a mistake, but by then i was quite tired and didn\'t pay attention to proportion...)
and for the first one, by two years i don\'t mean two straight years, i just mean i started it two years ago and just finished it the other day. i wasn\'t working on it the whole time, actually, i had forgotten about it for quite some time, and then when i say it the other day, most of the lead was very smuged... took a long time to erase all the smears (and yes, i did copy it out of the instruction book, so i can\'t take all the credit! although, it was still pretty hard...)

edited: took out evil dbz pics :D

edit:
OT
i\'m going on vacation now for the next two weeks, so i\'m not sure if i\'ll have acess to internet while i\'m gone, but once i\'m back i\'ll have a bunch of new drawings (i like to draw while on vacation :] ), and probably a story for the roleplaying section i hope.

VERY nice, at least as far as im concerned. While the imperial isnt perfect, im reluctant to criticise as I couldnt do anything nearly as good on paper OR a wacom. Keep it up!

wow didn\'t know dbz was so hated! like i said though, that was a long time ago (i was like 12 when i drew these :D every 12 year old i knew was into dbz back then 8o ) and my tastes have changed, i personally don\'t like dbz either. but like demarthl said, it\'s good to use to learn. really now it does seem stupid to have posted it, oh well, ill go edit them out now, no more eyesores:D

well, on to some new stuff.  first off, i had basically no time to draw on my vacation, or work on my story like i said i would do, so this is mostly old stuff.
OT:
the reason i couldn\'t draw on vacation is a long story, so skip this if you\'re not interested, but basically what happened was i went to florida with my freind, and neither one of us can drive a car (or afford a vacation like this for that matter :D ) so his mom came, along with his two sisters.  as i found out, my friend\'s mom is basically insane.  everytime we got in the car we got lost, usually for over 3 or 4 hours, so this wasted alot of my time.  plus, my friend\'s mom must be an insomniac or something, because she left the hotel and 3 a.m. every morning we were down there and came back later to pick us up and take us places to eat and go to the movies and stuff. one day, she forgot to come back. for over 25 hours as we figured out later.  we had no food, and no one would deliver to our location.  we walked about a mile to this restaraunt (we had plenty of money atleast), but as it turned out they only took credit cards, no cash...
so we walked about 6 miles i\'m guessing (it took about 2 hours to get there, and 2 back), to subway.
this was basically how the vacation went, so i didn\'t really have alot of free time. so, sorry, no new drawings ;(

p.s. don\'t misunderstand me, i do appreciate my friend\'s mom for taking me and paying for almost everything. not sure if i came off too harshly...
/OT
ok well here are some old ones anyway. they aren\'t really my best works (most of them have too much of the anime style rubbign off in them for my liking), but they aren\'t too horrible i hope.

duke nukem

wringwraith i never got around to shading, might do that sometime soon

lotr movies inspired orc

these next two, i like the ideas, but once again the anime style ruins them for me.
first one is kroger man, i figured since so many other shopping centers have their own super heros (big lots has one, wal-mart has the smiley zoro guy, and the smiley 007 guy, saverite has saverite man...) and my friend did one for ingles (sadly, he went to art school and now i have no way of showing you this picture, it was really good.)
the second one ruined again by anime is an alien i made up.  i think if the muscles didn\'t look so stupid it would look pretty good.

this is one of those lego things, don\'t remember what they\'re called.  i used to have a bunch of them, they seemed to have dissapeared now though. from what i remember, the entire thing was a robot, and i just changed the arms to flesh... for some reason...

and probably the best of all these pictures, a jungle scene i did 2 years ago (sorry i can\'t get it to scan in straight because of a funky paper size, so it\'s croped poorly)

wooh... sorry for such a long post! but i was gone for a while and i missed the forums, so i had alot to post!

edit: stay tuned, i\'m gonna start working on something that will hopefully be on par with the dread lord :D

oh and btw, i didn\'t mean for this thread to be only my off topic art. i\'d like to see other people\'s as well if you are willing!

more editing:
ok, here is my latest drawing. not exactly as good as the dreadlord, but it is still one of the best ive done in a long time. it\'s a skier, by the way.

here\'s my reference pic, in case your interested (it was a really small picture, so quality is kinda low here.)

edit:
this is my dog, teensey.  she is a chihuahua. she\'s pretty much the coolest dog ever born.
