Guild problems
« on: June 25, 2005, 02:42:12 am »
I did use search but couldn\'t find what I was looking for. I have to admit I don\'t understand how the search works sometimes as to what it shows.

Anyhow there are two bugs I would like to request get priority from the PS team to get fixed.

One is the promotion that isnt working. I know it\'s been reported already but it is really hard to keep a guild running in a beta if you can\'t promote people to fill up the gaps in leadership that are inevitable over time.

Two is changing guildranknames. I tried to change the names of ranks, but it just kept stating what the names where already in system and didn\'t change it.

These two bug together make it very hard to start new guilds online but also makes it hard to keep guilds that restrict admin to higher levels afloat, as the number of leaders decreases and the holes can\'t be filled.

Thank you for your time.

This has been already fixed in the cvs and will be included in the next major update.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Huh, so we\'ll have to deal with the fact that we can\'t promote members, or change the rank names?
This doesn\'t sound too good.
Disclaimer: This is my opinion and I can be reasoned with. I'm probably right, though.

It shouldn\'t matter much. Guilds should have their own websites and forums to keep track of such things in the meantime. Not a disaster ;)

Well it is getting to be more then an annoyance when it\'s lasting more then a month. Specially if people keep saying the fix is already out there.

I really would like to ask the PS team to atleast get the fixes for the bugs out as fast as possible.

to Karyuu:
I don\'t want it fixed becuase of the reward. I admit the forum can sufice. I want it fixed becuase of practical problems.

For example in the Dragon Council you can\'t invite people right away. We want you to know the Dragon Council first and know what we stand for and that we can trust you to find good people to invite.

As it is a beta all guilds have the problem that people become inactive and seeing it\'s been more then a month also some people in invite ranks are becoming more inactive. Normally this wouldn\'t be a problem as several members would be jumping to prove themselves. Now we can\'t give them invite without giving it to everyone.

If your problem is that you cannot change invite priviledges due to the rank problems, the guild leader will have to deal with handing out invites him- or herself. And if the leader has no time to do this, then that\'s a real pity and reflects on the status of the guild as a whole. Yes, it is a little more work than usual, but it still doesn\'t seem like something to worry over like so.

*in jest* Besides, does the Dragon Council even need more members? ;)

Well it\'s an example of when it can be a problem ;)

Ofcourse the Dragon Council has had the time to promote enough people so it isn\'t a problem right now, but for guilds that started a month ago or even earlier and who do not have someone promoted yet and who don\'t want to give the lower rank invite yet ir can be.

You would only be able to invite people when the guildleader and only the guildleader will be able to delete people and such so when the guildleader is going on vacation I can see these guilds dying out when they wouldn\'t have to.
