Yeah, I find that the game tends to run slower when my computer is at high altitudes, like when i go skydiving, get loads of lag then so I can\'t see people walking.

you just need 256MB more ram, it\'s not that much !
As for WoW, it\'s a finished commercial game from blizzard, how can you expect a pre-alpha demo to be fully optimized as this?
there\'s no place like 203.81.47.91

I had 1GHz and 256 SDRAM...And both MB and CB run like butter...well at least for coupla hours before...RAM completely got full...:D Well system requirements should decrease as the versions progress...like it was with MB to CB...

You can try, but you shall fail! Seek us not, we shall find you.

After the next update, there will be more options in the setup program, but already there are many things you can try. You can set adaptive distance, lower resolution, etc, but my personal favorate is to make a shortcut, and in the target box change:
\"C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue\\psclient.exe\"
to
\"C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue\\psclient.exe\" -nolightmapping

This drastical inproves perforamce- but at a cost of appearance. But certainly an option if you want to play faster now.

What about your video hardware?  That makes all the difference.  I\'ve got an old gefore 2 with 32 mgs of ram, and this card is almost sufficeint.  But I\'ve got a friend whose system is identical to mine (well, he\'s got 256 Mg of ram and i\'ve got 512 and he\'s running windows and I\'m runnng linux but the cpu\'s are the same) except that he\'s got one of those new video cards, and he gets about twice the FPS that I do.  Still, even with an old video card like mine, it runs fine in most places.

Oh, I\'ve also found that it runs much better if you compile it for yourself.  This is theoretically possible (but not easy) on any platform. You might want to look into it.

I don\'t think that the requirements are too high...

The average PC is 2 Ghz with a half gig of ram

and geforce 2 32 meg is 4 generations old... most cards are newer tech with 128meg minimum....

A \"planeshift for slow/small devices\" would be a neat thing to get going - would just love to play this on something like my ipaq 3630.  This would also let people with less powerful or simply not compatible computers play the game.  Problem would be removing the opengl stuff though.

Yeah, I\'ve thought of that . . . like a 2d java version or something.  I doubt the devs would go for it, though, as it would need all new art.

Is that a normal comp you say?

You know that\'s about the specs on the laptops they are GIVING away in those.. poor? countries.

I mean, my comp is soon 5 years old and it\'s 1.8GHz and 768MB ram, no upgrade

Most gaming PC\'s come with 1GB ram standard now. In a couple of years, all PC\'s will come with 1GB standard. By the time PS reaches version 1.0 the min specs on that page will seem very low.

I have 800 Mhz and I\'m okay
Loading at night and playing at day!

Seriously, many modern games don\'t even try to run on my comp. PS does. So I\'m happy. :D

until a couple of months ago i was running CB on:
AMD duron 700mhz
Geforce 2 64mb (still using)
512mb ram
and it ran perfectly fine, i got alittle lag the first few steps after load up, and was able to load all maps ok too.
Ps just doesnt like to work on some computers, some can scrape the barrel to make it work, others just say no.

any way i now run

AMD Athlon 2800
same gfx card
1664mb ram

at one point, before it bvurnt out i used at geforce 4 128mb card, i was getting 150 - 200 fps in the plaza, my current card suffices with 20, it stoops to 1 or 2 sometimes, buti can live with it.

*me pokes parents to buy new gfx card*

personally, i\'d say get another gig of ram :D

I run on 256Mb RAM and a ATI Radeon 7000 and 2/3 of my characters receive very minimal lag. In fact, the lags only a little worse than Guild Wars, and that\'s a finished commercial game from NCSoft and ArenaNet.
