Hi and welcome to Planeshift!
You can view the guide that is distributed with the client and you will find some nice information on how to do the basic things.
You find the guide (if you are under Windows) in start->programs->Planeshift Crystal Blue-> Planeshift Setup
you can move with the mouse, but it is not that \"easy\". I think it is better to use the arrows. Anyway, you can use the \"mouserun\" possibility that consist in pressing the left button of the mouse and (if I remember right) ctrl at the same time, with the mouse pointer in the place where you want to go.
You can run pressing shift while you use the arrows.
You can start quests talking with NPCs, like \"can I have a quest\"? Unfortunately, right now, quests are disabled.
You can fight monsters in the sewers. There you find the easiest one and you can gain experience. If you search in the forum (using the search button) you will find a lot of interesting \"guides\" for getting information on where to go at the beginning.
