red desert
« on: July 12, 2005, 11:10:07 am »
well, i got a little bored from gaming and 3d so i made this:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17/gnomkiller/reddesert.jpg

clouds sucks badly, i\'ll need to tweak that.

might not fit perfectly in the ps world, but it it isn\'t based on real stuff.

i made it with terragen, that program creates 3d world renders based on your 2d shaped map(like height)
it\'s not a perfect program, cause you can\'t add vegitation, thats why it\'s best suited for scenes like this.

Oh man, of all the threads to ever catch my eye, the word \'desert\' is the key to them all :P

Lovely lovely. Can you create sand as well?
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Terragen is a great program.  I used to do TA mapping with it.  Ah the joys of waiting 4 hours for my 16000x16000 texture to render.

is that a game??
and, can you also import 3d models of landscapes, or export? cause i don\'t know that much about it and the results are very good for about 30 mins of tweaking.

Just wow. That\'s awesome, keep up the good work. I\'d love to see a temperate rainforest of that quality if you\'re up for suggestions of another one to do but I guess you couldn\'t do it with terragen (no trees).

Yeah, anyways, wow. Good Job!!!

Well, with terragen, you achieve it by setting a few variables and then clicking \'render\'. :) I used it once, way back when, created a lake with a mountain range in the background. None of it was modelled or textured by me, it\'s all done with a random algorythm in the program, so I wouldn\'t really call it \'great work\'.
