Wish list
« on: July 13, 2005, 03:20:51 am »
I\'m sure most of these have been wished for already, but this is MY wish list.

1. More ambient sounds! right now the world doesn\'t seem to draw me in as much as it could, it\'s all too quite.

2 Shadows! Not like stenciled or anything, just a simple black blotch under characters would look nice. Or if the devs could pull off Zelda 64 style shadows, that would rock my face!

3. More detailed environment. Grass that fades into view as it gets close really makes things look great, and is not too hard on the graphics chip. Also, more trees out in the open areas. small woodland areas where every tree is modeled would be great for monster spawns.

4. Controlling your character with the mouse. Mostly I would like the option to be able to mouse steer, FPS style.

Thats all I can think of right now, maybe more wishing later. Keep up the great work, and I hope to be contributing to the project soon!

Edit: 5. Faster run speed. Please.

1. Yes, we need many more- so please go outside and record more sound effects, and donate them... well, it\'s not that easy ;)

2. True dynamic shadows would take a lot of work, and would be a major drain on resources... but a simple spot on the ground might be easy now.

3. Also too much of a drain... and you have seen the problems with the existing trees  :( But yes, more would be welcome, even furns to dot the paths.

4. Already possible. You can use mouselook by pressing tab, and you can try difernt perspectives with M. Also, you can mouse run by pression some combonation... I htink it\'s ctrl and right click? you can edit the options for that to make it easier if you\'d like :)

5. Wait for the update ;)

Hi, the mouselook isnt what I want. Its nice to have, but I would also like to steer. autorun+mouse steer = no keyboard! It would just make it easier to travel long distances and watch tv at the same time or something. As for the shadows, a simple dark blob would be very easy. I was thinking about the Z46 shadows, and I think that would be easy too. Just a teardrop blob shape at the botom of each foot, that rotates to always face away from the nearest light source. Im no programmer, but seems not too complicated to me. As for the trees, I knoe they would be a drain, but in further releases, Crystalspace will be more mature and capable of higher poly counts. Lastly, I hope to be on the dev team doing art. I\'m majoring in animation, and I\'m a modeler. I would love to environments for PS. We\'ll see I guess.

well if we make high quality models, then there should be an option to lower that quality, so people with bad graphics cards can still play.

simple shadows would be nice.

the mouselook would be good, and mouse steering too, so many other games have managed it so we know it\'s possible and not terribly hard.

And run speed should be trainable.
