Grouping and XP
« on: July 13, 2005, 06:05:37 am »
(i did a search for this and didn\'t find anything...)

How does the xp get divided between grouped players?
I\'m playing right now and it seems that only one person gets the xp.  the others get nothing.

Is this a bug?  Does the xp have to do with the killing blow?

We are at the same point level.  (not sure if that means anything..)

Edit:  I think we figured out it is the killing blow.  We took turns walking away from the creature near the end of the fight and the person who did the last hit got the xp points.
Can this be fixed or is it there for a reason?

Hmm, I never thought about that... I\'m guessing it\'s evenly distributed, it may also all go to one person at a time.

Good question, sorry I couldn\'t answer it. I don\'t play cb much.

Edit: I searched the players guide and couldn\'t find anything on it. I think this is one the devs will have to answer.

The person who deals the final blow gets all the PP.

by the time you have the trias to level up whatever you\'re leveling up, chances are you\'ll have tons of pp regardless, so don\'t worry about this too much.

There was a time when indeed pp was shared among the group, considering the amount of damage each one made to the target. I guess some code was added, or removed thinking it was redundant, that now ended this way (only the player that kills the monster gets the pp) i wonder if this is the expected behavour or it\'s a bug.

IMO pp should be shared among the members of the group.

That code isn\'t removed AFAIK, and I\'m quite astunned that nobody complained about it until now.

The XP is calculated by the damage done to the monster (sorry healers, you XP for you yet). Though, if you stop hitting the monster in hope that it will regen and then attack it again, you\'re thinking wrong.
The damage loop stops if it finds a gap on more than 10 sec (or was it 5?)

If it\'s indeed broken, We (Probably I) will have to take a look at it

It\'s bug 444, of course it has been reported before.
And it\'s also on a high severity level (4)

But it\'s still unassigned ;)

Not many complain about it, because at some point of developing character the amount of PP you get doesn\'t matter. It is because one gets them faster than he can use them on training. So many of the hunters have now more than 500PP and to spent them would need incredible amount of money: 500PP is 21000tria I myself have over 4000 and i know people who have over 10000.
This issue can\'t be removed, because people use money for different purpose and some spent it more on training and others less.
The solution is to withdraw the need and use of PP and let players to develop skills in a way that they gain practice right now.
Example: Player spent that much tria on traininga at NPC as he does now and then go practicing until the bar will reach 100% and he have to train at NPC again.
Of course the amount of actions which let to practice need to be proper big before player can go training.
By this there will be no problem with killing monsters in groups as people will gain practice every blow.
There will be also no problem when player will be training alchemy using PP from killing monsters, because there will be no PP.

EDIT: Before someone will tell it is a bad idea, give few reasons of that.
