Adding an image to a window
« on: July 13, 2005, 08:24:00 am »
I\'ve been making my own info and group windows.  You can see my progress in this thread here.  I created some new buttons for the group management functions, but as of yet I haven\'t figured out how to put them in.  I\'ve tried adding entries into imagelist.xml, but it won\'t load the images up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

data/gui/imagelist.xml is decrepated.

The list is in art/skins/default.zip or whatever.
Basicly do this:

1. Copy art/skins/default.zip or elves.zip, whicever you prefer to art/skins/daveg.zip
2. Edit psclient.cfg to say \"daveg\" instead of \"default\" on the skin thingy, GUI for changing this is in, but broken. Will be ok in next update
3. Extract daveg.zip and change the files, recompress and test. Btw, it\'s in the zips the new imagelist.xml is

Thanks, I got the images in.  Though for some reason they\'re lighter than they should be... and my transparency and fading all died.  Somehow, the max and min transparencies swapped, and thus killed the fading.  (the min was greater than the max)  I fixed it, but... that was odd...

BTW, what is the purpose of all the GUI images in the art folder if the GUI\'s images are supposedly loaded out of the skin\'s zip file?  And, why is data/gui/imagelist.xml left around if it\'s obsolete?  (or, is the answer: \"becuase we never got around to deleting them\"...?)

I think that those images are used as a fallback if a particular image can\'t be found in the skin, but I may be wrong. Either way, I assume they will be deprecated eventually and it will fallback to release.zip\'s image list when a resource isn\'t found.
