Worst Enemy
« on: July 21, 2005, 07:52:14 am »
Everybody have an enemy, an enemy who don`t care your social status, an enemy who don`t care about you sexuality, an enemy who don\'t care if you are tall, thin, short, fat. An enemy who don`t care if you are white, black, yellow or green.
Yes my friend, that enemy its the LAG. Theres dont matter if you are playing whit a local red, or if you have the greatest broadband conection, he is your worst nightmare.

So i stop to play, maybe i back to the game if that problem is fixed, because is a exsecive lag, but i know that program a game is hard, and you are doing your best work.

Im gonna start to do the spanish patch, if i get luckily, when i finish it(well, i dont know if i will finish it) the game will be fixed of many bugs.

thats all and forgive my bad english. -----------

There are many players who don\'t have lag at all. This is because they have:

  • Updated graphic drivers
  • Have one of the newer graphic cards
  • Turned sound of
  • Changed the default graphic settings
  • Have a more powerful pc

I\'m sure there are more things to get lag to a minimum and you can find them all here in the forums.

Notice that the game is PRE-ALPHA!!! There are still bugs in it. If you don\'t like pre-alpha games why did you even bother to download it.

But I must tell: I played some games that where in beta and they where a lot worse then this game. I think planeshift is very playable for an pre-alpha game.

Hmmm... I think Chelote writes about network problems rather than hardware issues. Lag is caused by packets loss and delays (correct me if i\'m wrong). I am experiencing lags sometimes, but very rarely. There  is constant delay (about 0.5 sec for me), but it is not annoying at all.

Actually, I suspect he\'s talking about video lag.  I\'m playing over a 56k connection and server lag is very rare, for PS takes a very small bandwidth.  Basically not an issue.    But my FPS can drop to under 6 in the plaza due to my ancient video card.

Yeh, its all in the card, 32, what i have, ok, bit of lag, but only in the more open areas, 64 sweet as everywhere bar plaza,

Dial-up or broadband, doesnt seem to make any difference!

Games all good.

To defeat this enemy you just need an army of powerful mecenaries such like
128 MB+ graphic card, 1 GB of RAM and 1.6+ Ghz CPU. Well, since those are
mercenaries will only fight for you if you pay for them. :P

instead of paying expensive mercenaries you can go to the tavern and buy some drunks a beer or two, cheaper and still works, look out for people like

AMD Duron 700mhz
512 DDR ram
Geforce 4 mx440 SE 64mb

they can complete your mission too

Bah, you people know nothing lag is from the gods!  Though I know not there reason I can not but think that something so powerful comes from the gods.

I wonder what we have done that has displeased them unless they only wish to teach us a lesson in patience which is probably the case seeing as how many people around here need it.

Strange.. I have no lags at all... but my framerates do drop in the same areas every time.. usually in the most populated areas.. but it seems to be very specific to certain spots.  hmm.. curious.

I second that.

My hardware, just as an example, does hardly meet the minimum requirements for PS, but PS runs on it. The only thing that is above the requirements is the CPU. Of course, I won\'t get any high framerates, especially in crowded areas like the Hydlaa plaza, but to me playability is more important than nice graphics.

And don\'t forget that PS still is pre-alpha. Maybe you should wait for the next release, if you experience to much lag.

Knowledge is power, if you know how to apply it.

I hate it when people complain about lag when they are actually talking about their own ancient computer instead of the server lag.
