Lag is normal. Everyone experienced it. It\'s not due to network, it\'s due to the 3D engine which is still in devel. The next release could fix it

Ok, I know how frustrating it is to be very knowledgable about something and have a thousand screaming newbies come at you all at once demanding help. I\'ve been there. And I tried to read through this entire thread, but just too many threads were the same question over and over and it began to give me a headache. I had a linkdead issue. I got that fixed by using the IP address. Now, I actually get connected to the client and when it says initializing world, I waited, willing to give it a full 6 hours if needed, yes, I have no life, listening to the stuttering music with actual joy because it meant things were still working. And then, poof it closed at random. Is this a common error? And if so, is there any way to fix it? Help would be eternally appreciated.

Elmallen of Erisea, can you post your computer specs?  That may shed some light on the problem.

Actually, I tried it again about an hour after I posted that and I actually got into the world. Beautiful stuff guys, makes EverQuest look like stick figures. But after about 20 minutes it froze and crashed. And now every time I try to get on it goes to the loading screen, takes about 15 mins to load up, and tells me the server is Linkdead.

And my comp specs are as follows

Processor: Athlon DMZ 800mhz
System: Windows 98 First Edition
Memory: 256 mb
Video: 32 megs, dunno what brand, integrated motherboard system.

i got 5 parts and recompiler, did it no probs. made new char, tried connect and got link dead messege. read few forums went bak and sorted it, then i made new char an got bad char messege or summat, i deleted him tried again with new char and was amazed wen it started loading (i hav bad luck wiv these things). i got into game after about 15 mins. was a bit laggy but alright. i minimized the window cos i forgot all controls an stuff,,, after i looked em up i open a NEW game. realising i had 2 games open i closed em both using task manager cos they on was not responding. i restarted comp an tried connect again,, it wont work now an i get this in DOS screen at start up:-

no CEL environment variable set!

I\'m haveing trouble with the full screen... My PS Setup isn\'t working and I looked in the cilent notpad file and couldn\'t find the Video.Fullscreen= no thing to change it... What do I do?

6. How can I make it play in full screen instead of in a window?

Open the file called \'psclient.cfg\' in notepad ( or your favorite text editor ) and search for the line:
Video.FullScreen = no
and change to:
Video.FullScreen = yes

how come that doesn\'t come up now?

HELP

 the server keeps dropping me, is it because theres so many players on or the ass goku kept punching in letters swears,ect that it overloaded? now I can\'t even load planeshift it just says initializing world then just stays like that for over an hour, where as before it took 30 secs. HELP ME!!!!!!!     P.S. Mordaan mentioned a download from aiknas or something what is it?

Hi im a newbie haven\'t even started playing yet but would really like to i just made up my character with no problems but when i went to log in as it was \"initializing world\" i recieved this error:

-psclient has caused an error in THING.DLL

in a desperate attempt to acces the game i removed that file from the directroy then got this error

-psclient has caused an error in ENGINE.DLL

what should i do i tried downloading the game again and get the same problem if someone could email me their copies of these files perhaps that might do something thanx for any assistance you can give

Update your soundcard drivers and make sure you are not running any other programs which use your soundcard (games, media players, etc).

You may need more RAM to play PS without crashing. Also, I have AMD, and I can tell you that PS is likely to seriously overheat your processor, so make sure it has adequate cooling measures.

Darkflow: Ignore those messages, they\'re normal. If your character is invalid you can delete it again, otherwise there\'s nothing you can do about it at the moment. Try waiting a few days before attempting to log in again, that\'s all I can suggest.

atlaconspire: Go to http://www.dll-files.com to download any that you need. You probably need to do one of the following:

Update your graphics drivers
Update your DirectX version
Buy a new PC


And just fyi, net spiders can pull your email address off of forums and spam you with mail, so I suggest you remove it unless you have a very good filter.

Ok, I found the file I needed to get full screen and fixed it , thanks... but now, I\'m trying to log in and sometimes I get the message \"Could not resolve hostname server\" or something along those line... nomaly I\'ll click connect a few more time and get in but for the past few days it has let me in... Whats going on with this?

(I try not ask qusetions that someone anwsered already, if this one was anwsered somewhere, sorry I couldn\'t find it...)
