FAQ of technical problems, please read!

I need help again, i made my character, then i connected to teh server, then it says on the right side of the screen

Loading:
Loading: Textures
Initilizing: Character
Initilizing: GUI
Initilizing: World
 
I hear music, but nothing happens, i waited for 10 minutes, what do i do?

dependig on your system specs it may even take longer (especially the first time you enter the game)

When the Loading thing comes up i wait till its done, but it only reaches Initilizing World, and stays there for 10 minutes then the game just closes, i tried like 10 times now, what do i do to fix this?

okay, when i start up the clien,t it always says some random numbers, and a wve output thingie, and that cannot support the specified format, so i click okay an dit works fine after that. but the connection always dies when it starts up thw world, so your telling me to leave it on for 2 hours even if the program stops respoding when loading the world?

This means you are low on memory even with VM kicked in.  You needed to either
1. add more physical memory to your compunter (preferred); or
2. increase the virtual memory space.  You can do this by:
right click on \"My Computer\"
click Advanced (tab)
click settings button in the Performance area
click Advanced (tab)
click change button in the virtual memory area and up the max memory say 100MB to 200MB at a time until you don\'t get that error.

This will allow the app to launch but will probably have lag and performance problem after it launch due to paging & swaping.

Ok, the client is not taking too well with XP; I have P4 2.5 gHZ processor, Radeon 7500 pro vid card, 1 gig of ram, Dualbios motherboard, and all the recent drivers, and still: *flicker* *error* *crash*.... There needs to be some sort of fix for that lol...

yeah, other than that, this looks like a Kickass game!

I first tried creating a character and got all the way to the loading world problem and i quit after 15 minutes and checked out the forum where i learned to wait.  So i tried it again and the next three times i tried it gave me link dead errors.  So i again checked the forum and changed the compatablity on and changed it to 98/me.  I then tried both the slow version, which instantly completes the program and exits, and the openGl version, which frezes after the line \"Using alternative 3D driver: crystalspace.graphics3d.opengl\".

some people are talking about opening up and fixing the openGl and i work with openGl with C++ but i dont know how to do this.  If i could get some help i would really appreciate it.  Thanx.

library in known bugs is msvcP70.dll

I just finished downloading all the files (took me about 7 hours total on dial up) and the run_me_first file created PlaneShiftV0.2.010.exe but when when I run the exe this error message pops up:

NSIS ERROR
Installer corrupted or incomplete.
This could be the result of a failed download or corruption from a virus.
If desperate, try the NCRC command line switch (NOT reccomended)

My question is how would I use this \"NCRC command line switch\"?

P.S.: PLEASE dont tell me I have re-download the files, if theres any way around doing so.

i have a problem with CEL !
I checked out the CVS Repository and tryed to compile it ...
Ok it must be murphy but it dont work for me ... there are many compiler errors.
I dont think its my runtime. There are many syntax errors ... like \"Warning unused variable\" , errors with pointers ... and many other stupid stuff.

Somebody out there who can give my a working version of CEL ?

i am still trying to install the client and when i try to open the run_me_first thing this message comes up it says \"the keyboard driver specified by the KEYBOARD=line in the ....blah blah blah.... to correct this problem, run Windows setup again\" how do i fix this?

I tried to read all of this thread... but I get a headache... All these ppl do is type in a question that was answered in the last reply. I am sorry I gave up on reading a last couple of threads but I will try the feeble attemp as everyone else does in hope of a reply.

Ohhhhh K. Here is my prob, I start up the game... NO WAIT. Let me show you this first.
(I don\'t remeber it all but here is what I know)

System: Win XP

Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Mobile CPU 1333Mhz

Video card: usure: Mobility Radeon? Anyway, it\'s a 32 MB, new 3-D powered graphics card. (no worries there except it\'s kinda slow in graphic resolution that\'s past 1240...)

RAM: 256

ANYWAY, here is the problem, as you know I run on XP. I followed a couple of ideas but mainly advice from newbies. So I guessed that was the reason why it doesn\'t work. (I am a newb myself but I am a person that tries to solve his own problem) BUT, it solved a couple of other problems I had. Fill me in, what am I supposed to do when it gives me the \'Your a dead link\'? I am stuck on that so far. (I just thought I may as well tell you, that I think, that you are, tired of reading in between the lines lol)

I\'m having problems downloading the game. The same thing that happened to kaill is happening to me. I checked the folder and only like 19,000 of it is loading... is there anyway to get the rest of each one to load?
