A call for knowledge
« on: July 27, 2005, 02:03:13 am »
I am interested in any information anyone has on various gods of Yliakum. I am assembling a list of the gods , together with a statement of what is known about each. So far I only have information on Vodul, Laanx, Talad, and Aliathi. I would much appreciate any information that you have of other gods, or perhaps a deeper knowledge of these gods. Know, however, that by submitting information on a god, you are also submitting them to dissection in my paper \"Dissertation on the Gods of Yliakum\" . Both of these books can be seen in the library of the Athenaeum of Magic , in the Lexicon of Yliakum section.

May it also be known that we are constantly on the lookout for any good additions to any of the sections of the library. Please feel free to submit your writings.

this will be interesting...

so you are just compiling a simple listing of the gods. rather then doing any kind of relationship analysis.

which perhaps may be a bit challenging. since there has been what roughly three major settlement waves, along with a slow trickle. the gods have probably shifted a bit from what they were originally... hmm. perhaps a paper in the future. a geo-chronological anylsis of ps deities.

but anyways. do you want the submissions here or elsewhere?
may laanx frighten the shadow from my path.
hardly because the shadow built the lexx.
the shadow will frighten laanx from my path.

Ideally we would like the submissions here.

And you\'re right, it\'s only the beginning. The gods of Yliakum are an extremely in-depth topic, with many aspects. I do not have the time, at the moment, to explore many of these aspects. There is a possibility that I will get to it in the future, although I am, as you will realize if you read my paper, rather cynical on the subject, so perhaps it would be better for others to do this.

I would really like more info or at least speculation on the \"Black Flame\". The current information on it is practically nil. Yet, we can pick it as a \"religion\" during character creation process. Do you honestly believe it really is a part of Laanx as history says (history says it\'s actually only a rumor) or is it most likely something else? Is it something that was present in the area before Laanx and Talad have arrived? Did it go into \"hiding\" to observe what the aforementioned two would do? Are Laanx and Talad actually aware of Black Flame\'s presence. You\'d think that Laanx at least would be aware of it. Did her or other people (those Laanx appears to, if any) question her about it? What was the answer? Can Laanx merge back with the Black Flame, if they really are related? The devs could\'ve given a lot more info about it by now...

Hmmm... indeed. The Black Flame is an interesting topic. I have my own personal theories on it. However, this thread is more relating to the AoM rather than particular topics. I will, however, note that down as topic for discussion and possible writings.

Oh come now, surely you could have waited for at least ten posts to have been made before taking this thread off topic?

I am as much a God as Aliathi. In fact I\'m more of a God than Aliathi because I actually have followers. :D So add me on. \\o/

Xordy\'s right...

I will admit that the Lemurs do owe Laanx a certain amount of gratitude for their creation. However, this should hardly amount to worship, especially since Laanx has not consciously done them any good since their creation. All in all, the idea of worshipping something so pathetically insecure is simply absurd.

What about the Xachas? They were not created by Laanx but are her/his faithfull followers. Why? Laanx saved their people from certain extinction. They do owe Laanx worship!
Although we can see Laanx only cared about power because he/she left the Xachas to search for more power instead of continuing to help them.
IMO there\'s nothing pathetic in worshiping Laanx, specially when you\'re a Xacha or a Lemur.

EDIT: Xordan get a history, so you can be added :P

If you wish to discuss my writings with me, please do so personally through pm\'s, or publicly on the forums of the AoM. This thread is not meant to be used for discussion of the writings in the library of the AoM. That\'s what the AoM forums are for.
