help wanted before i go crazy
« on: July 28, 2005, 01:10:30 pm »
Hello to you all

I\'m new, I downloaded the game yesterday and registered when I tried to play it said fail next to the server. So I checked the forum and did everything it said that could help (reconfigured my firewall, checked the serverpage [people are online],...). Yesterday I tried till 4 o\'clock in the morning and still it didn\'t work.

Today I tried again but it still said fail next to the server but when I checked there are people online. Am I doing something wrong?

If anybody can help me I would appreciate it?

Can you do a ping command to laanx.fragnetics.com?
Are you sure there\'s no firewall, hardware of software, blocking the traffic.
If you\'re sure, then, most probably, your ISP is sending you trhough a wrong way (some of the nodes of it is down) I really think there\'s nothing you can do, if that\'s the case.

That proves that your system has no way to reach the server, and it\'s not due to a corrupt installation of the game or anything.

Please, ensure about firewall. If you are sure you haven\'t, or the ones you\'ve are allowing the traffic correctly, then I\'m afraid, but, my opinion is that there\'s nothing else you can do, simply wait for a network administrator to either reconfigure the way your isp redirects traffic or \"fixes\" that suposedly not working node.

type laanx.fragnetics.com into the _address_ bar of which ever browser you use. if you get an actual webpage, then it is your firewall no if ands or buts.

now if you don\'t get a webpage, type 203.81.47.91 into the address bar. if you get a 403 error page, check your dns settings, call your isp to do that.

if you get a traditional cannot find server page. then there is something on your computer that is giving it problems. call in a pc tech

It would be strange that this problem has to be with DNS.
Could you try making a tracert command (instead of ping) to laanx.fragnetics.com ?
Let\'s see where the packet gets lost.

Right at the beginning?
Then perhaps steuben is right and it\'s a dns issue.
Anyway, if you do a tracert to a given ip (not a domain address) then the dns resolving should be avoided... But perhaps I\'m wrong, anyway, could you try the tracert with the ip address?

Please, try to add more information.
When you do the trace route to laanx.fragnetics.com, already at the first line it should say laanx.fragnetics.com (203.81.47.91) if that appears, your dns are working, because the name has been transleted into IP address.
So it seems to me that there is a non working node, early on the way. Perhaps it\'s a node from your ISP, in that case, you\'d try to get in contact with them.

Busy tracing the route to laanx.fragnetics.com [203.81.47.91]
1 <1 ms      <1ms    <1ms    rt-125.vub.ac.be [134.184.125.100]
2     *              *           *                operation timed out
3     *              *           *                 operation timed out

and it goes on like that until number 30
