Character Generation
« on: September 22, 2002, 08:51:54 pm »
I think you should be able to Personalize (is that a word?) your character really much... Like how your face looks, and your hairstyle and color, and how long/short you are (With some limits, depending on the race) and fatness, If you are really big, or just really thin. (some limits here too), and your muscles, if you are strong, or weak. And then, when you play the game, and fight much, mine much or something else, your muscles grow!

The thin, fatness, little muscles, big muscles could be at the \'Advantages/Disadvantages\' screen. Like if you are strong you get more Hp and hit harder, but you need to take a disadvantage too! (like unlucky, or something)

And then I think you should be able to \'cuztomize\' your characters clothes. Like, if you are in a clothier and want some clothes, you could decide colors and how big they are, and the looks. And if you want a long or short arm-length on the clothes arms, and such.

All this things maybe cant make it into the Game engine,
but anyway I think its some good ideas... :/

(This could have been posted earlier, but i dunno :/)

I have really SERIOUSLY thinked about that once, but didn\'t commented with the programmer dudies. I think this would be very hard to implement, but I might be wrong.

Doesn\'t seem like it would be hard, but I don\'t know sqaure one about programming. The ideea of making your char look stronger over time seems like it would be elaborate and difficult though. Otherewise the other ideas seem like they should be mandatory.

Heh, Dragon Empires is doing something like that :))

But then again they have a few million$ to spend on their dev, lol.

Making your char look stronger/weaker/fatter/thinner as time goes on is a LOT of work, though stat wise it\'s not that hard to do if you have the time.

I\'d probably expect your appearance to be more static and only effected by things like hair dressing, clothing, body paint, and so on.... but they could allways put it in someday

Hmmm Body Paint, that would lag the game horribly if the people drew their own body paint, people would walk through town and have to load everyones paint, unless you go to a place and choose from like 20 designs that you downloaded with the game.

This was brought up one time, it wouldn\'t be too bad on the programmers, but would require tons of work by the 3d team, work that could probably be used better elsewhere. But who knows, in time this could be implemented.

It would be extra work, yes. But I don\'t think there should be 5000 Dwarves wandering around that look exactly alike. If all they did was basic body changing like in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 type char generation, it could be fairly simple to create a character, change his bulk, and deecide what he wears (at first).

this is wear the aspect of different armors come in. Different shapes, different colors, different types, they provide the same effect, but they are acctually more or less required in the game. Or were you assuming there was no armor ?(

I remember them mentioning the Enkidukau cutting their fur, and dieing it according to their clan. Is that going to be seen in the game?

God I hope so. Sorry I forgot about the armour thing. Anyway, They should look diffeerant otherwise it would look terrible. Guild wars would be soo confusing. If the Krans all looked alike I could ALMOST see that.

Not much work man, just a bit of Rendering it to the Wire Frame and placing it ontop of the Skin, Really simple to do. Paint isnt 3d just a bmp or jpeg file that is placed and wrapped to wireframe and .1 off where the skin sets.  :D

oh yeah.... back on subject, It would be nice to beable to change Hair, Face, Body style, Build, Ect... Almost easy also. 3D editor and ya select all points on your wireframe and Enlarge it lol, well a bit harder but ya get the jest. Would be awesome if you could choose skin/fur/rock color for your character, not that hard to implement, also Make armour have its own 3d textures instead of 2d where it actually changes the shape of the original model, makes for more realistic gameplay. and Armor should be able to be Dyed 12 diff colors by peice. so if ya wanted black boots red greaves, black Chest plate Red Pauldrons, Black Vamps, Red Gaunts its possible via A smithy  :D
Also Cloths should beable to be Dyed and several different basic types implemented. So that you dont have everyone running about looking like Identical twins. Races should be more Defined rather than Off the wall Races, Human/Terran isnt even in the list tho there is a Human Looking Race..... Its almost an Insult the us  :P  Well Developers got a whole plan in their head not gonna sit here and Cut them down to size about it, they are doing excellent but i do wish they could work on this full time. Hell take up a Sponsor submit your game to Blizzard they need a GOOD MMORPG diablo 2 sucked. And this would be awesome for them and their fans would love it, youd be rich as the Developers. Seriously check into it, i wouldnt mind paying 50 bucks if ya get it set up really good, its looking Great as is, Hell im one of those guys who pays to Play INFANTRY! and EQ why not Planeshift?! Seems Like Ya Devs got lots of big plans but no time on yer hands. Best of luck to you

And while we are at it we can make the game 3 gigs to download and you would need atleast a T1 line to play.

Err...I don\'t know much about programming 3d objects, but to the point. I wouldn\'t mind paying onc to own the game, but otherwise, I would. And the idea of 50 Krans skulling each other is cool. To make them differant I guess they could have carvings and stuff in their hides, skins, layers or whatever they have.
