Ok how about using employing npc\'s to look after your shop or to run your tavern while your away?
Maybe you could pay them a weekly wage out of your profits. The more money you make the more ppl you can hire, perhaps when your first starting out you cuoldnt afford a guard to watch thieves or maybe your guard wouldnt catch very many thieves.

Anyway its an idea let me hear what you guys think.

hmm i think i would rather trust a construct  to look afte my shop means  don\'t have to pay them only  the intial cost of getting a magic user to make it for me... I must admit it is a good idea about hiring npcs to run an adventures business if the have one.

Yep, this has already been suggested, and as far as I know, it will be a part of the game, when we start being able to get our own shops :)

No I saw it as a groundskeeper... Just for holding off burglars and stuff. If you wish to run a store, you\'ll need a real player and no npc...

You should be able to hire an NPC to run a shop. You should, however, need to supply the stock for the shop, and set the sale and purchase prices for the goods you sell. And you should have to pay the NPC out of the shop earnings, however, or they\'ll quit.

Maybe there should be  an employment agency in Yliakum so you can find these employees.
Just a thought

How about a dragon guarding your shop? He sees a theif, he catches them on fire, scratches them, and then eats them... ** Ooo would you like that regular or extra crispy? **

My buddy has a little note up in his office, which says \"Thou shalt not meddle in the affairs of dragons... for thou art crunchy, and taste good with tartar sauce.\"
