Good Idea or Not?
« on: August 01, 2005, 09:38:40 pm »
I heard that you can make Mods, such as new weapons and clothing. Wouldn\'t it be great to make a website where you can submit your mods so others can download and use them in the game?

no offence but it would probably be made illegal somewhere and we\'d all get fined and live happy little lives in prison cells

I am sure there is a site like that, but it\'s name or url escapes me at the moment. Maybe other members will point you into a right direction.

wha? download? as far as i know your inventory isn\'t stored on your computter so you can\'t download mods.
There will be crafted items, yes but what fun would it be for one to download weappons?
In Yliakum you have to WORK for items ;) .

Edit: And what good will it make to have cool clothes.
I\'ve been wearring leather boots since forever and i still run arround barefooted :P

He means models. You can change those if you want to.

There is a game called The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind. And they have several sites where people submit their mods. Thats where I got my idea from.

I really like the idea.  It would be nice to have multiple skins to choose from and new looking weapons.

It only has two downloads. Maybe we should have a new topic where we all can submit our works.

The reason it only has two downloads is because no one has submit anything else. Instead of starting something new, consider contributing to something already established. There were many more downloads available on that site during the Age of MB, so if members of the community make something they would like to add, they have every freedom to do so.

I would always recommend augmenting what already is instead of making something similar.

Oh, you can submit thing. Neeto. I didn\'t know that because im not registered to that site. But I do think that it would be more convinient to have a seperate topic.

We, Induane and myself, need to put the SoR theme that Induane created there.  You can also download it and view images on our site or our guild thread.

Various modifications, like client skins and model skins, already have their own threads. I honestly see no reason to combine everything into one, for it is just a repetition - artists many times want to include their modifications into their Personal Art Threads. So a separate topic wouldn\'t be a good idea.

At one point we even had around 20 mods for CB, but when we switched to the e107 content management system we went through all the mods and many of them were deprecated by either the skin system (Cherppow\'s VR gui is now included with PS, go Cherppow!) or the changes to the effects system (this deprecated the collection of target markers). We\'re working on finding the ones that still work and entering them in the new system so bear with us ;)

Karyuu is right (as per usual!), there is no need to start yattnu (yet another thread that\'s never used.. I just feel acronym-y today >.> ) for mod submissions as we have a whole set of forums dedicated to just that on ps-mc.com.

I\'m still working out the specifics of the CMS so if you have a mod you want to see in the downloads section just post it in the proper forum and I\'ll try to get to it within a week or so.

Edit: I just remembered, the best way to make sure someone adds or at least looks at your modification is to prod us repeatedly in #ps-mc on irc.freenode.net (there are excellent instructions for connecting to IRC with a windows client that were mentioned in a previous news item on the main site)
