Seasoned Players, please respond.
« on: August 04, 2005, 11:20:47 am »
Greetings, I am a seasoned EQ1 & @, Runescape, WoW CoH and Matrix Online vet. I was wondering if some of the old-heads could give me some idea of how this one works in comparison to the rest. From what I hear this should be a very decent game, and I\'d like a little advice, possibly even some contacts who would be willing to help me along with questions I may have once into the game system. Thanks for your time. (edit) Any serious RPers, feel free to add me, I always like working with like-minded players

Well, I\'m not a \"seasoned\" player, but I can run you through the basics in-game if you would like.

First thing to know which is integral to Planeshift is that roleplaying is essential. Not required 100% of the time, but you should always indicate your OOC (Out of character) talk in (). Also, Planeshift is a tech demo, so many skills and things are not implemented yet. This makes roleplay the main way to pass time and build your character.

Hope to see you in-game and hope you enjoy :)

I\'m a serious roleplayer with most of my experience in tabletops like D&D and LARP like Vampire TM and Requiem.

Well, seeing as newbies pop into existance over in the plaza, you can expect some who are here to just chat to talk OOC there. It\'s also a usual chat spot for others as well. I mainly have long RP sessions over in the Tavern, as do a lot of other players.

I have been playing PS for about the last ten months or so.  But in comparison to WoW and some of those other games... PS is only in version .3.011 and will take some time to finish while those games are already finished.  The difference in PS is the Community and the rp base.  Hopefully you will like it.  Put me on your buddy list or whatever, im on everyday.  Same name as the forum, Valbrandr.

Added Val, when its operational I\'m trying to get Magnus, but if its taken it\'ll be the same as my forum name.

A no!!!?? Why? It has been my name in nearly every sing roleplaying game I have ever played! FFXI, WoW, RS, CoH I like my name, whats wrong with it? No offense master, but speak sooth, what makes my name illegal?

Bah, Drey, Drey, Drey, I remember when you were just a lowly peanut, but anyways.

The name in itself is not illigal, all Drey says that it\'s may not be liked by certain GMs much, probably because of it\'s dragon\'ish origin. (sign) I don\'t see nothing wrong with the name.

One more point don\'t compare PS with WoW, CoH, etc because they are paid for games, since that fact they will allow any name as long as it\'s not offensive. You know what I mean.

You misunderstand, I\'m not trying to compare the games, hell it was even my D&D name untill I got killed last month. (wont go into it, it takes A LOT to kill an epic level character.) I was just going for a uniform continuity is all.

well, indeed it has been said, and therefore noted. I\'m not some mere scrub around for nothing more than rank and plunder, I am truly hoping for a more engrossing experience that will get the foul taste of the others out of my mouth. Plus keeping some coin in pocket and playing a fine game helps too.

no apology needed, there is a reason you are a game master and I a mere mana rat. That said, hopefully after the system becomes operational I can begin to build a reputation worthy enough to make pithy requests and rant on and on about such things. If possible I\'d like to keep my name, if not I completely understand, and do not wish to make foul waves with the powers that be. I leave judgement to you good sirs/ladies and hope you let me know before things become operational. Thanks again and sorry for complaining. You work very hard to build this system, and as I have done nothing on that level I therefore have little to complain about. So keep up the good work, hope to be playing soon!

(editted for spelling errors. I am half asleep)
