Ubuntu does really look like a mac..

Partially it looks like a mac because I like the OSX look, a and themed my computer to resemble it.  I added the scaling dock at the bottom for eyecandy.

the original icon of PS doesnt look that great, actually I was wondering if there were more custom better icons to use, maybe make a bunch and poll the best, maybe they will use it in there next release

You\'d be surprised how many times I\'ve seen people submit icons for other things (not planeshift) and end up submitting a jpeg.

Yup

Never submit JPEG for icons, PNG is ~Pretty Much~ an icon not in the .ico format so use those. PNG is the only widely used format that supports partial tranceparency, just like icons

There are many programs to convert PNGs into .ICOs, just search google..

Personally, I like the crystal icon without the text. Look at the other icons on your computer, how many of them have text? Probably none, or close to it. An icon is a just that, a picture, not text, that distinguishes on app/file/folder from another. The text is below the icon, not on it.

Oh, and if you don\'t mind, I made a Mac .icns version of the crystal. .png and .ico don\'t work on Macs, the transparency becomes black if you try to set them as an icon. It\'s a little darker shade of blue than your\'s, I think I screwed up the mesh a little. Cut me some slack, it\'s my first icon... and it\'s not even actually \"mine\".

How would you actually use it? Usually I set icons by opening the file info and cut/pasting the little icon from one file to another, but the .icns file shows the generic icon instead of the gem. I know the images are there because I see them when I open the file in Preview. How can I set it as my PS icon?

By the way, I llike it better without text also.

there was someone who made some icons a while back... using laanx temple and some other things, they are definatley worth searching for all though the only icon i have for PS is the batch file icon  :/
