I know what PS need!
« on: August 04, 2005, 06:30:01 pm »
Every place has a \"haunted woods\", or field where nobody goes. \"Here be dragons\" is marked, and people shiver. We need a group of powerful monsters like a pack, and are confined to an area not far off a common route. Giants or something? I got it Giant monkeys!

Here is how I propose they are individually rated. Their power since they are designed to strike fear into the masses, should be a two part metric. Either the total amount of players for one largest guild; online at once. Their combined power, mutiplied by two. Alternatively the combined power of half the players online at that time. Which ever being greater.

The idea being to make them hard enough that a group would need to form to kill one. A large, and long battle to kill them all. Also detailed records of their battles should be maintained by the server so it can be posted to the forums, and talked about.

Secondly.)

Also maybe the otherworld (where you die) should take the form of a city (NPCs) in the shape of the tower of babel? I saw a neat tower shaped city in a magazine.

And then they should respawn so the group can kill them again and again and recieve more phat lewt. Yes, great idea which adds enormously to the RP and creativity of a game. :)

Although, you forgot to tell us WHY you want this idea to be implemented. I\'m sure there is a reason.

GLORY! We could talk for months on people\'s attempts, and {laugh cry scream}. Plus I have a personal, private reason to see such a great event take place.

BTW, it should be so hard that they wouldn\'t want to try again for a few days. Also if people came to help, they would be welcomed into the onslaught.

If there is no loot and also no massive PP to be gained, such a place would indeed add to the atmosphere. However, we already do have one.

And the Death Realm (which is how it\'s called) is not a city, it is an entire land. It is tiny ATM, but it\'ll become vast in the end.

Where do you have a place just off the road with \"impossible\" monsters?

I see a big gorilla with spike hands all the time... scary.

So I like this idea as well.  Lets get either this or the plague idea going soon!

Yes and oils that I can light to hit the monsters with... I can see it now drench monster in oil, hit monster with firey rock... laugh as a behemoth (spck) runs at me still attacking (AI will come soon enough I guess).

Great idea to kill large monsters... though not until I can use a bow so I don\'t get burned by the behemoth (spck)

No, I mean since you can\'t kill one, throw rocks instead... ;) My idea was to make them almost impossible to kill individually, let alone the whole pack. They should auto attack in their territory too.

Great idea... I understand I simply like the idea of burning big things.  As well in other RP situations I have had gnomes spill barrels of oil on big monsters and that only proved to make situations worse... funny but worse.

ON TOPIC NOTE:
I would join a group dedicated to destroying big monsters.  I like the idea.  In fact I would even be sure to get to a computer to meet with the group at the specific times needed.

The \"impossible monster\" is the ulbernaut, which was what  Andrek was talking about. Though, it isn\'t really impossible :P

I\'ve heard of that monster. It\'s either a great challenge, or there is no point.

Does it really take half the players logged in to kill one, and run in packs that defend their territory against passers bye, that is located right off a main route? Don\'t forget the point of keeping active stats, and posting it\'s incidents to the forums. A specific standard to measure up to. The only better entertainment would be to watch scatters of players running, and screaming for their mommies.

The problem is that you can pretty much run away from any monster you see.  The Ubernaughts, when pissed off, need to be fast enough to chase down and hack to bits anyone that gets too close.

Yes... because we all need to run in terrified fright of the Ubernaugts ;)

As well if I had a bow I would not mind fighting such creatures.  So I guess we need to make some faster to catch up with archers.  Good point.

The Ulber is not scary.  Even if it were fast, it would not be scary.

Spiders would be scary.

Little ones that swarm in large numbers, slow you down with webbing, and do very small damage each.

Big ones that eat what the little ones catch...

In the Dark Forest, where it is hard to see them...

Scary.
