Interesting Quest developement.
« on: August 05, 2005, 11:23:49 am »
I\'m not sure if this is a bug, or if I\'m spoiling something.  It has to do with the ancient greataxe quest.  I post this here to try to improve the quest system, however it is possible that this is a spoiler.  So be warned.

Basically, (possible spoiler will follow), instead of giving the axe to the smithies - I gave it to the woman in the ancient ruins.

I was on my way to Oja and decided to see if she had any quests.  As an experiment, I showed her the axe, and she took it.  Harniquist wouldn\'t take it.  I never got around to the guy in Oja.  She said she\'ll identify if I do something for her, but she won\'t seem to let me do anything for her, and she won\'t give me back the axe.

Maybe I didn\'t ask her the right question, and maybe I need to wait a while before talking to her about the axe again.  It\'s interesting though, and a possible bug.

*edit*

64 views and no replies is unfortunate.... so no one has anything to say about this quest?  It\'s just \"broken\"?

Don\'t know what to tell you about the quest, but it is interesting that you\'re a \"forum as\" and have not yet learned to use the edit button.

He doesn\'t mean it :)
You can kick a topic if you think it\'s really important and you searched and everything. But if you do it on the same day of the topicstart and you say something like \"still no reply, pls help!\" then people won\'t like it.

But to give my opinion: The devs are working on the quests and by giving her the axe you triggered a new quest they\'re working on you weren\'t supposed to trigger.

You know, I can't give the Ancient Greataxe to Harnquist at all, either. And Harnquist doesn't even have a surname, so I guess it's just one of those quest bugs.

Harnquist isn't the only smithy in the game.:)

Just taking a stab in the dark here,  I think you might be a victum of the multiple quest glitch.
I have read many times the first questioned asked for quest help is, do you have another unfinished quest ?
It seems that only one quest at a time ensures completion of the quest.

Just a guess ?

Most quests are still not working, because of the new NPC-chat system.
Quests only involve certain NPC's, that are assigned in the quest.
The new system does not recognise the NPC's with a lastname yet,
but the developers are working as hard on it as possible to fix it.

Can tell you, that there are 5 NPC's ingame that are a smith.
And most likely only 1 of them is assigned to be used in the quest.
So for now everyone has to wait for the devs to launch the fix, when it's ready.

Btw you posted this topic in the wrong section, although it's an older topic, that is revived again.
It's not ment to be posted in "Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game", but should have been posted in "Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world)", because it is a bug ingame.

This is related to the NPC chat problem that wasn't entirely taken care of yet. Thus NPCs who have two names (first and a last) may not accept items from players at this time. Hang in there for a fix.

Not to be mean or anything, but take a look at the original creation date on this thread.  It was revived from the dead so to speak.  None the less, it still is in the wrong area though.

Edit, to make sense of my post a bit to others that read this later, it was in response to Tarel's post above, before he had edited it, before he realised this post was revived from the dead, so to speak.
