Different black screens

Sometimes I see only a black screen (it shows the mouse cursor - movable, not sure it is there always) when I log in and the world is loaded. Most of the time it works fine, tha darkenss does appear only occasionally.

It appears to work fine, just instead of the world I see darkness.

It is different from the other black screens. I see character selection fine, never saw color distortion.

The machine got some GF 6600 or 6800, probably old drivers as I am unable to update drivers there.

And why can\'t you update the drivers? Just download the latest here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_77.72.html
And check if turning up the brightness of your monitor helps.

I guess turning up brightness does not help as the world is usually visible - even the dark places like death realm.

And I cannot update the drivers because I am not administrator of the box.

Screenshot of 100%black is not useful I guess. And since I cannot see the controls either(only the cursor) I doubt I would be able to make one. hmm, may be I did not say this clearly enough the first time.

I have a few pictures of black glitches and other colors, strangely they have been red, purple, blue, green, etc. As soon as I figure out how to upload them to my host I\'ll post them
