Cheating AP
« on: August 07, 2005, 08:54:18 pm »
I was accused of cheating to get AP today.  A guy came in and said something like, \"I hope that\" or something close.  I asked, \"What are you hoping for\".. turns out he was in a conversation with another person but in the advice channel.  I have seen people do this before... ie when someone comes back after their advisor time is up and says goodbye.  I have seen others claim these.. some notable people as well.  Should we leave these alone?  I used to.. but everyone keeps taking them to earn an easy point.

Not sure if it matters or if this belongs here... if it doesnt I dont mind if it is closed or deleted :).

Indeed I have witnessed this, too. I think it isn\'t decent behaviour and should not be done. I don\'t know how much it affects the advisong system, but it is abuse, except if you count the problem of these messages otherwise sticking in the queue for a while and the advisors getting notified of it more than once, so it can be considered cleaning the queue.
I don\'t know, but if someone is so eager to get AP they sure as hell are trying to become GM, and this is the sort of people who should not ever be GM. I seriously hope the screening is very tight but it doesn\'t seem to be.

Normally Seytra I dont agree with you.. but on this issue I do.  I am trying to become a GM.. but I do not nor would I cheat to get there.  Anyone who knows me here, knows what type of person I am.  I personally hate cheaters and I am still upset about the item generator dropping those swords.. because I am seeing alot of powered people, more so than myself, and I have been playing quite a bit.

hmm, wellback when I was doing advicing I said goodbye and such without thinking of gathering AP (I always thought that you get one AP per Question/Answer series so for instance one point for [Q:\"How does Magic work\" A:\"Could you please clarify your point\" Q:\"How do I cast spells if I bought the rune\" A:\"You have to purify the rune first, which is done in the spell windo and then make a spell out of it and finally type /cast \" Q:\"Thank you!\" A:\"You are welcome, goodbye\"] ) I simply said goodbye out of ettiquette, ..., well I think I gonna stop doing this ... Damn I abused without knowing that I did..

Cyl, the problem is that the sessions time out after a while. When this happens, then the \"Thank you\" is treated as new session and generates an AP for whomever claims it. Only after they timed out.
