Protectors
« on: August 09, 2005, 05:16:31 pm »
Finally after a long activity in Planeshift we have decided to go official.
We almost finished our website (there are some sections to be completed) and we hope it fits all the requirements for being accepted.

The history of the guild  is strongly related to the life story of Eolius, the founder of the Protectors. Born in the Temple of Yinoritt, the one that is nowdays called \"The Ruins\", he lived by the ways of the warriors starting his training at an early age. His father, a great swordsman taught him how to weild swords and how to hunt while his mother, a wizard apprentice and an explorer taught him the ways of magic and how to use the energy of the glyphs to cast spells.
His family moved there after his father found a job as a guardian of the Temple living in one of the rooms in the Temple. Little did he know that the skills that his father trained him will eventualy save his life.
It all started one day when the Azure Sun was shining bright and nothing was going on in the Temple as usual just the routine travellers and pilgrims coming and going in and out of the courtyard. In the back there was a garden that nowadays holds some trees and that was the place where Eolius trained every day.
It was all quiet... Until that moment when a great roar filled the skies which slowly started to turn dark. Eolius rushed in front of the Temple and saw those two beasts approaching. They were Ulbernauts evil monsters that, sometimes, he heard stories about from travelers. People were speaking rarely about them and when they did you could have seen their faces turn dark in fear.
Nobody ever mentioned seeing two in the same place. The story goes that they were the spawns of an evil wizard who created a spell from pieces of crystals glued together with the blood of a man who was tourtured for years and years, and when he died the last drop of blood that touched the ground beneath him spawned a flower that was bleeding the same blood that gave it life. That blood was so charged with evil that if a person would touch only a drop of it that person would have turned into a monster hungry for blood, hungry for death.
It was midday and already the darkness engulfed everything making it impossible for anybody to see anything. The wizards in the Temple rushed out, and one of them cast a light spell. As his hand was glowing stronger and stronger more and more bodies started to be seen on the bloody ground. The roars of the ulbernauts were filling the skies and cracking the walls of the Temple.
And then a figure appeared on the top of the hill near the Temple. A dark figure absorbing all the light around it... the black wizard... With a loud voice that shook the earth he started an incantation. Eolius recognized one of the most powerful dark incantations in the wizard\'s words. He knew from a book that the spell would imprison everyone\'s soul inside the stone that the black wizard was holding in his hands. He also knew that there was only one way to escape that faith and that was to touch the stone that the wizard was holding because only the bearer of the stone was safe from the spell.

He rushed to the top of the hill dodging an ulbernaut blow but the wizard struck him down with a weakness spell. Gathering all his force and will he stood up and at the last moment touched the stone. But it was too late for all the others... Everybody including his parents were trapped inside. He tried to raise his sword but the spell\'s effects were so great that he couldn\'t make a move. He fell hearing the dark wizard\'s laughs as he was walking away. The spell was drawing life from him like a leech. Cold...Darkness...Sorrow...Death. Images of the bloody courtyards passed trough his mind. And then he heard a voice... The crystal voice of an enkidukai woman saying to him \"Don\'t move, if you move the spell will kill you.\". He saw a bright light all around him and felt the life slowly coming back to him. A healing spell...he thought. Slowly with a barely perceptible voice he said \"Thank you\" and then he felt the world slipping away from him as he passed out.
He woke up at night and saw that the misterious enkidukai lady had disappeared.
\'Who can she be?\' he asked himself. \'I must find her and thank her.\'
He raised and a seccnd thought passed trough his head. \'The wizard! He has my parents!\'.
Rushing through the courtyard, he felt the ground soft under his feet. The earth mixed with blood was forming a sticky mud. All that death... He raised his eyes. The Temple was a ruin now, all that was left of it being some stones, pieces of walls and some columns. He searched trough the rubble there for the Crystal of Yinoritt, the greatest treasure being guarded by the mages, but it was gone! The Crystal had the ability of healing wounded travellers even from a distance and to keep monsters away from the Temple. But the greatest property of the Crystal was to undo Dark Way spells. Finding it and finding a wizard that knew how to use it was really important now.

A sound! Footsteps! Eolius rushed towards the place where the sounds came from, thinking that somebody may still be alive, or that the misterious lady who helped him will be there. But he shook at the wiew he encountered. The ulbernauts! They were still there! Without thinking and without caring about what might happen, lost in his pain Eolius grabbed his longswords and ran towards the two beasts. Being a klyros he had the advantage of flight so he raised and hit one of the ulbernauts in the head, his swords cutting deep in the beast\'s flesh. The ulbernaut roared and lunged at Eolius, hitting him hard on the chest with his claw. The battle continued for 2 hours and finaly when the first rays of the Azure Sun shone on the Temple Valley the 2 ubers were dead. Eolius, almost dead stood between the two beasts and tired and covered in blood. \"I must find that cursed wizard!\" he kept repeating, \"I must free my parents and all the people he trapped!\"
He climbed the hill where he saw the wizard the last time and as he turned back to look at his home for the last time he saw something horrible. The ulbernauts were back! The black wizard had cast a spell that was reviving the beasts a short while after they get killed.
\'A dangerous place this will be from now on.\' he said to himself and he left following the wizard\'s path. It was not difficult since all the vegetation was burnt describing a clear path. But he didn\'t need to travel far. At the end of the day near Ojaveda, behind some hills he found him! The wizard was standing in a muddy valley chanting. He was holding the Crystal he stole from Yinoritt and he was trying to turn it into a dark glyph. Wasting no time Eolius charged him and as the attack was a surprise the black wizard didn\'t have time to cast a spell. Death came to him swift and painful as Eolius\'s swords entered his neck.

But it was all too late, the Crystal was unpurified and broke into pieces as the incantation was interrupted and the soul stone was nowhere to be found. Sad and without any hope of saving his parents Eolius sat down feeling the emptiness growing inside of him. \"The Temple!\" he shouted jumping on his feet. It is there where the stone must be! The wizard must have thrown it in the Temple\'s dungeons as the Temple collapsed. That\'s why he left the ulbernauts there!
But without a Crystal equal in power to the one Yinoritt held they couldn\'t be saved.
\"And I\'ll need to be stronger and find help in order to be able to help the people trapped there.\" He kneeled and crossing his swords he said \"I swear that I won\'t let something like this happen to others! I will do anything in my powers to help others and as the ones in the Temple offered guidance and protection to others so shall I. If anybody will wish to join me in my quest then so shall it be, we will make a guild called Protectors and we shall try to better ourselves in order to be able to fight the evil in this realm!\" The time passed and more and more people hearing his story agreed to join him swearing to defend the weak and fight evil. Nowdays you can see Protectors all over Yliakum fighting monsters that stand on the path of travelers and helping those in need. They are simple people and not all of them are strong but they have a good heart and they will help you as much as they can with an advice or by giving you a hand to defeat a monster standing in your way. As for Eolius, he is still searching for a way to free the souls of those trapped in the stone and you can meet him sometimes in the hills or in the cities.

In consequence our rules are:

Help other people, especially newcomers.
Respect the rules of conduct and manners.
Do not spawn duel invites unless in special circumstances.
Fight your enemies with honour.
Do not attack a wounded adversary.
When somebody is rude to others or steals hunt from others the previous rule can be broken.
If you see somebody being rude or stealing hunt, inform a Prime or the First Knight in order for them to take a decision regarding the actions the guild will take against the offender.
Do not steal hunt from others.
Do not lead newcomers into delicate situations you cannot handle.
If you see a traveller in danger, attacked by a monster, group with him in order to help him defeat the monster. If the monster is too strong for you, lead it away so the traveller may escape.
If you die when guiding somebody return to him/her.
Bring honour to you and the guild with your actions.
If somebody requires help and you are able to offer it then do so.
If a guild member requires help or assistance he/she may ask other guildmembers for help, and the other members are obliged to help him/her.

Welcome to PS Eolius and The Protectors.

You do have a few things going for you... you already have a nice clean site and you are very active.

But there are still a few questions I have:

How you going to get everyone to come to these meeting you will have whenever?  It is very difficult to organize such things.  Are you going to keep a small guild? And what alignment are you?  I didnt see that.

BTW try to find some time to fix all the typos in your post :)

First of all thank you for welcoming us :)

We have 2 types of meetings, planned and spontaneous.
For the planned meetings everybody must come or specify why they coudn\'t come to such meetings.
For the spontaneous meetings an announcement is made on the guild channel and all members present online must attend the meeting.
As for how large the guild will be, well, we will be as many as we will be, everybody who wants to help others is welcome in our guild and only time can tell if Protectors will be a large guild or a small one.
As for the alignement, sorry i forgot to specify it, we are lawful good.

PS: I\'ll ask somebody to spellcheck the post because i\'m not a native english speaker ;)

Welcome officially to the realm. Tis good that another arise beside us to stem the flow of the evil.

(The guild seems well thought out and your site looks quite good, heavy on content and just the right amount of pleasing graphics. Other than a little tweaking here and there, you seem to have done a fine job)

*glances at a couple of lines of the history, particularly the part about the black wizard*

Someone hold me back! I\'m gonna tear \'im to shreds! I\'m gonna pulverize \'im! :P

Seriously though, I find your lack of understanding of magic disturbing, would you care for a few pointers?

It is a story seen trough the eyes of a warrior with little initiation in magic.
If i had a better understanding about magic i would have saved my parents already. I m still trying to learn more about the ways of magic though.

No no, I didn\'t mean that IC. I meant that OOC. The way you depict the mage, his capabilities, and magic in general shows that you know very little of them. It\'s not very \"realistic\". :P
