A merchant guild?
« on: October 02, 2002, 07:55:18 am »
Being most interested in the (possible) mercantile aspect of Planeshift, I came across a post with an idea of a merchant guild; one who\'s members consist of different merchants selling all sorts of things (food, clothes, weapons, potions, etc).

The theory was that this guild (once well established) would collect dues from it\'s members (likely a small percentage of income), and in return, would provide assistance to new members with a serious interest in opening a shop, or to help existing members when something goes wrong with the economy.

I think a guild like this would be very interesting, supposing there are enough people interested in being merchants, but I do not have quite enough time to start one.  I was wondering if any of the guilds/associations out there (BISM?) could consider themselves to have some kind of support for merchants, or if anyone is interested in starting such a guild.

And now it\'s late, and I must go to bed.  Thank you for listening!  :)

I made a post on Hellsing boards about this sort of thing a while back. I wanted to know how many people in the guild wanted for Hellsing to implement factions. After some time, i got a positive feedback on this topic, and right now thinking of converting the \"FAQ\" section of the site souly for that purpose. Here is what the post said, and you can find out more at our forums.
This was actually Dey\'s sugestion, and i kind of like it. He said that there should be like sub-guilds or \"factions\" within Hellsing, so that we act more ogranized. This way we can have like the \"Merchants\" faction, the \"Forgers/Smiths\'\" faction, the \"Mages\" faction, and the \"Warriors\" faction. Others can be added on if there is a need. So tell me what you think, and also post if you would like to apply for the leader of one of these. The \"Forgers\'/Smiths\" faction leadership has already been given to Dey, that is if we do decide to implement this idea. Also, i will not be a leader of any faction, so they are all open, that is if you would like to apply.  Rules are, first come, first serve!
Thx for your time.

So yeah, i would have fully support this, as i would in anything that sounds like it\'s a good idea. As for a guild that is made for ONLY merchants and item creaters, i think they would be lacking in some areas, and would not be as powerfull as a mixture of all the jobs.

ON an off note, this is sort of like an anouncement. We, at Hellsing, are currently in special need of archers, smiths and other makers. We currently have only around 2-3 smiths, and only one Alchemist, so anyone with the will to conquer is welcome.

Xandria,

Yes BISM is what youre talking about. but its an organization, not a guild.
Also im sure you get help from your guild if you want to train your merchant skill. Im member of the Black Order and i wil smith for them, in return they will help me with my trainning...

That way, merchants can train nicely in a guild.

but it would be way cooler to have an organization where all merchants would come together. If this organization is widely known in PS, then ppl would get to know your shop earlier, because you could advertise and display your merchandise on this guild\'s forum or somethin. I just think having an organization where all merchants could come together in one huge organization could offer great advantages.

(btw Xandria, the idea was mine  :) )

I dont think you can say that it was your idea...
cause i know there are more players around who thought about the same thing (cough...cough).
So u can see it as an general merchant idea (thats why i joined BISM ;) )

Bism was a great idea Kiern.
Almost everywhere that there is a wish for organizations Bism can fill that gap.
