come on its ridiculous that you always whine how someone stole oyur kill, it isn\'t a race! let them powerlevel, then they can leave!

my IC Demarthl can barely survive an encounter with a rat, I don\'t really care, I\'m not trying to be better then everyone else, I\'m building up my character, but in the way you should do, build the mind, i dont see how you can run around all day  obtaining \'kills\' like its an fps and never have a thought about who you are.

if someone steals your prey ask them to stop, if they persist tell a GM if ones available, if the player still persists they get removed.

unfortunately this doesnt work because hardly any of oyu are honest about this, and the ones that are get shunned to the back, really you should all be ashamed of what your doing, go play WoW if you want to do that sort of thing.

These people do NOT leave over time.

These people do NOT only go after what they need, they specifically target whatever you\'re presently attacking so that you leave the area.

These people do NOT stop when asked, and GMs do NOT have the time or patience to deal with idiots every time they pull something.

It is a problem, it is not merely a handful of \"noobs\" whining.

While I agree that we should be very stern on cheaters I don\'t think an insta-ban is a good idea. Remember that some exploits may be exploited by accident. Not all players are aware of all the possible bugs out there and sometimes it is possible for a new player to discover and hit an exploit-bug on his own without him/her evening noticing it at first. I think an insta-ban would be an overly harsh punishment in that case.

Indeed, where some do it by accident and others do it on purpose, who can tell if they mean to do it or not, this brings in a guess stick, a line of manmade judgement, of which often goes wrong and then flames come along, so such an idea clearly isn\'t the best approach.

my idea was best :D just remove combat xD

work on illusionary spells, animations, summoning crafts :)
that\'d be more fun for all instead of whacking rats to no end ^^

I\'ve found that the only time when a mage can \"steal\" a kill is not really stealing, because it is when the mage begins casting before the other player begins attacking (but finishes after the attack is begun). Once, I found a person running from a trepor (he did not appear to be using a dash and slash technique) and started to cast at it. I stopped when he asked me to, and he kept shouting about game abuse, even then. He even called a GM, as if anything would have been done to me for the honest mistake... I was tempted to tell him how much of a jerk he was being, but I decided to leave well enough alone. But anyway, my point is this: people who whine incessantly about this kind of thing are just as bad as people who do it in the first place, even on purpose. They make the game environment a whole lot less fun, and nothing breaks realism like \"I\'m calling a GM! Cheater!\"

Maybe, as someone suggested here, it would be really good if the person (also group) who dealt most of the damage would have the right to loot the corpse.
This way we will be able to help friends and others in need not being grouped with them.
Sure it will bring problem, that very strong char will be able to tehnicaly claim loot of monster atacked by weak char. But the general behaviour (which i have seen around playing games with such system) is strong characters don\'t attack very weak for them monsters.
In that system when someone would think someone has stollen loot from him, he should ask himself if he don\'t try to attack too strong monster.
Also it is logical and is same in real that stronger people can do more (especially was in medieval times)
Also advantage is that people would work in groups to have better chance of not being tricked by somebody else and be more effective.

Above system to work better would need:
Fair roll of the loot (it isn\'t fair now which is a bug) Maybe a pull of looted items would be created, from which players can share later their part.
It would also help if the monsters would move around (not only on staraight lines when attacked by someone) and spawn on set area, not in pre defined point.

This is more a wish, not simple wish, but one which may solve few problems. I think topics like these need somethink like that, so it isn\'t pure complaining and debate on it.

/me sighs

People are very sensitive to kill stealing because it\'s been abused so much.  Further, you don\'t have to start the spell before he or she starts the attack; As long as you start the spell before he/she lands a damaging hit, you can steal the kill.

Yeah nice... lol Shal for one your a known kill stealer who has been trying to make right the past couple of days by giving away mass amounts of weapons an money to befriend new comers...
An i can say firmly as well that most of you that have stated here, being the victim of a KS have also commited the crime..

I have been called to the arena spot by numarous guild members an friends in PS because no one can seem to share or take it in turns.

Also spawn camping an ignoring other players is one of the main causes of KS..

I can say this because when i first joined you all at Planeshift i too was a victim of these so called crimes, so yes i supassed those who trampled me, i did not whine to GM\'s or even at the player doing the wrong, an got on with enjoying the game.
an yes its true i\'ve done the odd KS but under no circumstances have i stayed an constantly stopped players from making thier kills...

I think you all need to grow up, honestly at some moments i\'ve had in game its almost like being back at pre school.. \"he started it\" \"but its my kill\" \"i was here first\"

Now now children ^_^ play nice

People like shal need to stop crying and just play the game. Crying about ks is not going to get you anywhere. Just go find a spot that isn\'t being camped out. If more time was spent exploring and not just hack & slash they would see there are monsters all over the place all dropping good loot. And another thing i noticed is most of the people complaining here are only able to kill monsters because they are cheating and the monsters arnt fighting back. It takes alot of balls to complain that someone is ks when you shouldnt even be fighting them to begin with.

*sigh*

No, Noxide.  I have always given away vast amounts of weapons and tria to those in need, when I\'m in a position to do so of course.  Before the wipe, I had given away maybe 6k, and I wasn\'t the most powerful player out there, and money was a lot harder to get.

Since the wipe, I\'ve given away no less than 33k.  It isn\'t to \"befriend new comers\", it\'s because it\'s a part of who I am.

Even if that was true, which I have no way of knowing, that wouldn\'t make it right.

Hmm.  Back when the merc was the only source of the weapons, you called in GMs to distract me so there would be less competition for the spawn.  That\'s not whining?

I\'m not talking about that.  I\'m talking about people like Mitaki who go around using arrow to steal all the kills from someone in an area until that person dies or leaves the area so that Mitaki can have it all to himself.  If you want to see it for yourself, just go to wherever he is and start killing things faster than he can.  Eventually he\'ll get pissed and will start with the challenges and arrows.

There are 5 gladiators and 5 rogues in the mid arena, one gladiator in the high arena, 2 rogues and a merc downstairs, and two mercs in the upstairs outter ring which all drop loot.

So why does the kill stealing keep happening?  Well, certain individuals want to keep certain areas all to themselves.  It\'s because in these areas, there is a high concentration of spawn points, so you get more loot over the same period of time.

So yes, there are a lot of good creatures to loot, but it\'s not just about the creatures, it\'s about how they\'re distributed.

Further, it\'s interesting that you say I\'m crying when I\'m one of the last people who need money in this game.  Just from the gladiators and from selling good weapons to other players, I\'ve made probably hundreds of thousands of tria.  My guess would be 2-3 hundred thousand.  The people who get hurt the most are the people who aren\'t that ahead in the game, who don\'t understand how the exploits work and can be countered, and who are new to the game and aren\'t expecting that kind of abuse.

Even further, this is a playtesting version.  We\'re testing it for bugs and exploits, and blocking kills with the arrow spell is most definately an exploit.

the problem is that it is very easy to for mistake here.
Imagine both warrior and wizard start attcking the same monster. Warrior with weapon, wizard with arrow. the time for casting arrow is longer than hitting by a weapon.
So the warrior will hit the monster and then wizard will hit it by arrow and worrior will think the monster has been stolen from him...
there is also thing that people not always start attacking the mob miliseconds after it appear, but sometimes/often 1,2 maybe 3 seconds after it.

EDIT: I\'m suprised nobody thought about it, in this topic, before me

So maybe instead of claiming someone is kill stealing, try to talk with him/her first.

And i agree it would be good if the system for killing monsters would be changed, but i havent seen a game where it has been solved in proper way, and i have seen better solution than it is in PS.

I didn\'t bother to read any posts up to this one, but I agree with you. Yes i\'m Mitaki AND Kenti, I suck, a lot of people hate me, doesn\'t matter since I\'m working on it.

But anyway, a lot of times people are somehow attacking monsters at an incredibly fast rate, I double click the monster AS SOON as it spawns with melee, even daggers, yet I still can\'t get it because they are somehow bugging themselves with some kind of uber speed, so after they take about 20 monsters doing this, I have to use arrow, yes I\'m doing it on purpose, ban me for it :P

But seriously, I have to use arrow, its the only way I can get a monster because people have cheated in speed hitting, and my agility is MAX, so don\'t go saying their agility is any higher. Arrow is the only possible way to get anything, and if you ask me it puts cheaters in their place. Sorry for doing this to innocent people, but Shalmaneser encouraged it, blame him :P
