Greetings!

This belongs in the Wishlist section of the forums, not General Discussion :) Also, the weather in the Crystal has no way of being so severe. The geography doesn\'t quite allow it.

Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Evil power, eh? Like GMs? ;)

Weather control is an interesting possibility, but when you are talking about hurricanes (nearly nonexistant when you notice that great quantities of water are rare) and tornados, that\'s a lot of power, power that will take an unbelievable amount of energy and time to manipulate. This is unlikely to come to be.

*access GM commands*

Zayek casts a huge bolt of lightning down on hydlaa hitting the windowless tower snapping its foundations clean though, the tower begins to topple over clipping the nearby hillside, the sheer weight of the structure puls it forwards down the city crushing houses in its path, killing thousands of innocents the tower slams into the plaza and obliterates Laanx\'s statue finaaly coming to a halt atop the ruins of the hydlaa wall on the other side of the town.

be careful what you wish for >:D

Yes but just like the evil powers we have good powers that can tell when a disaster is coming. And then we can stop it before it comes. But if we dont stop it it will knock down a few houses and then we can rebuild it again look at the public works tread.Really good idea. :))

I don\'t think you quite understood. Yliakum\'s geography does not quite allow for storms. Recommending some central \"evil\" power will require more work on the setting (and may not be compatible with what the dev team already has in mind for PlaneShift future). I also guarantee that storms cannot be made to appear just out of nowhere. So any weather work of that massive gargantuan size will severely influence the normal balance, and not only knock down a few houses, but perhaps destroy crops for a decade and drain the last two levels of the Crystal.

It\'s just not feasible, in my opinion.

What Karyuu said, theres a limit to how realistic you want an online GAME to be anyway. Sure you need realism to RP and all that but I mean come on... they arent even done with the actual game to start implementing such things. Also this should be in the Wish List section just like Karyuu stated before.
Of course you should fight fire with fire, you should fight everything with fire.   :P  Xantherus Icer  :P

Somehow I don\'t see the realism in massive destruction in an area so comparatively small as Yliakum. After all, it\'s not like the entire RL world would have hurricanes all over the place. In fact, these always form in a rather distinct area and not outside, and also require a lot of space to do so. Thus, the realism would be to not have them.
Furthermore, the evil power is just as unrealistic, since IRL there is no centralized evil. The only evil that exists IRL is the selfishness of a lot of people which leads them to, mostly unknowingly, form a great, decentralised evil power, kings and commoners alike. Yes, this evil power will bring us a climate catastrophe, but noone decides \"hey, let\'s have a dramatic climate change!\". It\'s just everyone of us in our carelessness.

Edit: I am not against any form of disaster! They just have to have a chance to realistically occur in Yliakum! An earthquake would be fine, as would be floodings, possibly even completely flood the sixth level!

Well I wanted to suggest earthquakes as a bit more realistic but got beaten to it apparently so ... everything Seytra said.

And this is one of the many reasons I think the people who came up with the concept of Yliakum should be in chains.

And this is yet another reason why I think you should go away, possibly to WoW or something. There is so much you can do when you wrap your mind around the specific setting instead of refusing it and insisting on the well-known and done-everywhere stuff.
