Just want to say well done!
« on: August 18, 2005, 01:08:19 am »
I have been playing for a few days, and with all the complaining threads these days, I just want to complement everyone contributing to Planeshift. Despite the bugs, 3.011 is awesome!

First, this new loot system is really cool, I like that there is a much greater variety of items along with a randomised factor. It\'s much more close to reality, perhaps the rat was stabbed too many times for the hide to be valuable, perhaps the eye dropped into the sewage and is unfit for potions. This is great, well done.

Also, the new training system is very nice, much closer to reality, as it gets more difficult (i.e. takes more PPs) to train higher levels. Two thumbs up.

Well done devs, Planeshift is really coming along nicely.

yes i agree. every update of ps has always been worth waiting for. now if only they could deal with the gophers that seem to be plaging yliakium.

riddling the ground with holes. the nasty little things...
may laanx frighten the shadow from my path.
hardly because the shadow built the lexx.
the shadow will frighten laanx from my path.

yes, now that the loot is all randomized nicley, no guaranteed super items every time its great, one point though is balance between the ammount of damage you can do and the ammount of hp availiable atm.. with people being able to hit for 200 and many hps being around the 100 mark it doesnt make for interesting dueling also the same with some of the monsters.
<Rux> i wish i could say that narrows it down, but the internet is one freaky place

Great Job!! I finally after my years of playing think it is becoming a very functional game

***tear tear*** it\'s so beautiful
only thing I don\'t like now is the lack of spells...but not the point.

Devs, You have done a great job.  I couldn\'t have done better myself (considering i have no idea how to program ;) lol).  I played in MB for a while and was like ok, then when combat was out it was like awesome.  Randomized drops ***gvies thumbs up***.   Thx a lot

And to think you guys do this on your spare time!?

devs = heros

Am I the only one who absolutely cannot stand the current movement system? ;)

Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

appart from not being able to turn in the air when going downstairs and it being a bit clumpy you get used to it and learn to make do.

I\'ve only been playing PS for a couple of weeks now, but I must say I am quite impressed.  I had always been reluctant to get into online gaming for a couple of reasons:

* I can\'t necessarily commit to being online for x hours a day/week, so I couldn\'t get a good return on my monthly fees.

* I can\'t stand l33t sp34k (I think I\'m just half a generation too old), and there are precious few places on the Internet where I can escape it.

I certainly don\'t need to worry about the first concern here, and so far there hasn\'t been a problem with the second either.  I did some role playing years ago when I had a group  of friends who were interested as well, but not for quite a few years.  It is very refreshing to find a place where so many people are so passionate about it.

This would be great all by itself, but to have all that surrounded by such a high quality interface, all for free, is just a fantastic thing!  I can\'t see for myself what improvements have been made in recent months (I started playing just after the recent wipe), but from what I\'ve read here the devs are doing a great job improving and expanding the game.  I know the game has its share of problems, but that\'s only to be expected for a version 0.3.xx product.  I look forward to seeing what improvements and changes are still to come.

I have a pretty beafy character, and I can\'t kill the tougher rogues without potions.  I tried taking on an ulber again today and I was drinking potions like mad just so I could get away alive!

For pvp, I think one hit kills is somewhat realistic.  You get stabbed in the stomach or jugular, you\'re dead.  Yes, it means more running around, but it\'s not about bugging the other guy out.  I think that running around towards and away from your oponent is also realistic, and it adds a lot more skill and strategy into fighting than just having the highest levels.

Ah I guess youre right about the juglar vein thing. And being stabbed by that giant ulbernaut claw-thing would end the most powerful warrior\'s life :P (hmm.. a 12-inch hole in the stomach.. yes, lethal)

The movement system kinda shocked me when I got on the game for the first time in a long time, (lol) but I\'ve gotten kinda used t it by now... But yeah the characters look like theyre sliding and the legs are just moving on their own.. :P and so strafe of jump animation..

But other than a few other things, The devs did an awesome job! Yup, theyre heroes... Can\'t thank em enough. Man, the way this is progressing, I\'d think itd be no time until this game surpasses all the other MMORPGs out there, and yeah! :D Anybody know when steel blue is gonna be out?
