graphics

I know that this is an early version of the game so therefore there, obviously will still be much more to do like areas, monsters, skills and npcs. But are these the graphics we\'ll be seeing in the finished version or will you be improving them?

If no-one provides anything better, yes, but if the devs get better stuff given to them I doubt that they would turn them down.

Not that these graphics are Everquest 2 or the new Dungeons and Dragons online game currently under developement quality, but I find the quality of work to be very complete.  For the most part, everything flows fluidly together.  I wouldn\'t be surprised to see a little improvement in the overall feel and look by the time the game is completed, but I will say that it is very nice for where the game is currently at.

Well there are a couple things that I think the devs were planning to add eventually now that they\'ve been added to Crystal Space (the game engine they are using) that will improve the graphics quite a bit. For one, real time shadows, even on a limited basis (just characters casting shadows on the environment) would be nice, and possible at least from an engine standpoint. Also they haven\'t started using shaders in planeshift. Shaders do things like per pixel lighting and bump mapping and reflection mapping and a bunch of other cool effects.

Personally I would like to see more done with lighting, especially dynamic lighting. Perhaps make the sewers darker, so you might have to carry a torch with you to find your way around, or npc\'s that carry light sources and actually walk around. That would be cool.

they certainly aren\'t everquest 2 graphics, but in many ways i like them better! for one, they are very crisp and the colors are vibrant. the game looks incredibly smooth where as everquest everything looks creamy and slightly fuzzy which is annoying. I dont mind the graphics at all, and remeber if they get better stuff that means:

larger file size
choppier game play
longer loading times.
greater sytem requirements
less people able to play it
