art tips
« on: August 21, 2005, 01:27:47 am »
as i work on my little art project. i relieze that i have taken a grand total of one art course about 16 years ago. even then it didn\'t cover that much.

does anybody have any tips on drawing heads and faces, well mostly faces. can\'t seem to get the symmetry right, and a couple of other things. mostly the shape of an enki\'s head. they are the only thing, at this point that i am have trouble with.

integration of the sketches maybe tricky. but is an infinitely easier problems for me.

Tips for drawing heads:
The eyes are exactly in the middle, not near the top
the head is 4 eyes wide.

it goes one
half eye, (between eye and side of head)   eye, eye, (the distance between the two eyes is the width of one eye)eye, eye, half eye(and again, side of head and eye)

The nose lines up with the top of the eye, the eye lines up with the top of the ear in a straight line.

which maybe why my enkis always look link wolfman masks.

guess i\'ll play with it a bit more while i wait for the servers to stabilize.

Here\'s a great art source which compiles a lot of the instructional boks of the great Andrew Loomis on the internet. Most of the books are scanned in, so just use the drop down menus to go through page by page after you\'ve chosen a title. There\'s one just for heads if you\'re having a problem with that in particular.

This site has many anatomy books online as well...

Enki heads would be tackled a bit differently, depending on if you prefer making their faces more human or cat like. I would recommend searching Google for images of cat skulls and headshots.

I will warn you that these books contain figure drawings in the nude, as well as photographic nudes meant be used as artistic anatomy reference.
