I think that also happens if you haven\'t selected any event of the ones avaiable, just at the last screen of setting up the char, were you select among options such as \"survived a flood, the girl of the skies, in love for a thief... and so on\" you must at least, select one of them.
Indeed the creating of characters isn\'t at all perfect, but it gets some polishments now and then.

Do you meet minimum requirements? Does it prompt any error message? Try disabling sound at psconfig.exe.
Minimum Requirements:

    * GeForce 2 or higher 3D graphics card
    * 1 Ghz CPU
    * 512 MB RAM
    * 1 GB free disk space
    * 56k modem Internet connection

Recommended Requirements:

    * Windows XP, Mac OS X 10.2.6, Linux or FreeBSD
    * GeForce 4 or higher 3D graphics card
    * 2 Ghz CPU
    * 1 GB RAM
    * 1 GB free disk space
    * Broadband Internet connection

A Few Mishaps
« Reply #5 on: August 24, 2005, 09:15:12 pm »
First of all, I cannot customize my character\'s appearance. I wanted to make the feline type of character to start out with, but when I clicked on the arrows to choose a hair color or what ever is allowed to be customized on those avatars, it does not respond. Is that feature not set up yet?

I also am having the same message appearing after I am done making all the selections. I have made sure I even double checked to see that I selected everything.. and I have.. all the events of this characters life completely in order, yet still..... I cannot make this character.

Well with the information above, I will keep trying to figure out what I am doing incorrectly. Thank you for your time, I await anyone\'s response.

Customization of character appearance is not a full feature yet. There are a few variations for the male Ynnwn and male Dermorian faces, but that is it for the moment. New skins are being worked on :)

Previously, people were having problems with the character creation process because of clicking the Back/Previous buttons. Try writing down all the choices you want to make, then going through creation as quickly as you can, without clicking back to any previous screens. This might work.

McKing:  Your Radeon drivers may not work with PlaneShift.   (click here for the thread on the topic)  ATI cards do work, but you might need to get the 3rd-party drivers mentioned in that other thread.  (You might get it to work fine; I\'m too just lazy to make a list of which cards don\'t and which do... :P )

Nr4g3d:  Can you click the \"upload\" button, and if so, does it prompt you to upload?  What is the message that appears?

False alarm...
« Reply #8 on: August 25, 2005, 05:39:11 am »
Well..
It\'s like this..
I got the message \"error in creating character: character not selected\"  BUT
I went thru the processes a few times more and TADA..
I found that I had skipped something.

I have a comment/suggestion here: Everything in the start up selections screens are too dark. The part that kept confusing me was the \"explored a cave, or idealologies of freedom\" I didn\'t realize I could select more than one. I had not noticed the.. little arrow in between the two windows. Maybe you could possibly make the arrows and such more visible? No, my colors and brights are not messed up, I made sure of that.

Sorry.. rambled.. ANYHOW yea I figured it out..
And I did get into the game.
I lack enough ram heh so I lag but everything looks great! I like the graphics and the ideals of this game and I am so excited to see more of it..

And to the customizing characters.. gotcha.  Thanks a bunch for your patience.

PS - Are you planning for an actual roleplaying enviroment or anything goes? Cause I am searching for the ultimate roleplaying game!

It is meant to be an actual roleplaying environment, but as the game is in pre-alpha stage, many many things are missing ;) PlaneShift puts roleplay first, everything else second. OOC conversations in-game are frowned upon if they are not designated by paretheses or brackets, names that are not RP compliant are changed immediately, and powerleveling of any sort without a character reason behind the actions of the player, is hissed at. The roleplaying community here is rather great, if I may say so. Hope you enjoy your time!
