Romance in the Realm...
« on: August 21, 2005, 07:50:30 pm »
Let me start by adhering to the \"WHY\" rule...

1. to enhance the gaming experience...
2. to provide an added dimension to roleplay...
3. to foster better and more meaningful relations between citizens of the realm...
4. to enhance personal experiences...
5. to provide additional money making opportunities for citizens of both sexes...
6. to open new paths of development in future times...(assuming the Devs ever get bored)..:)

This is going to be a bit long of a post, and I appologise in advance for it. A few of the idea\'s presented here may have been shown other places (flame me if you want...I don\'t care) but I wanted to get everything together in one place so that the powers that be could look at it as a comprehensive idea instead of a bunch of odds and ends. The idea being to provide for personal relationships and romance within the realm...

The following are some suggestions for new places and items within the realm:

Place: Flower / Gift shop
items: various types of flowers that can be purchased for the hair of the lady of your choosing (she would be able to wear it much as other items are worn now)
...
bouquets for sending to others as tokens of affection or sympathy...
presents for special days / dates...
Tokens for a lady to present to her champion, each different, purchased and registered by the lady. Each lady of the realm would be allowed only 1 (her champion would be able to wear it much as other items are worn now)...
Special food gifts (chocolate, confections, etc.)...
Various small gifts...

Place: Jewelery store
Items: wedding rings, etc (she buys his, he buys hers)....

Place: Outdoor Cafe / resturant / tavern / inn
a combined establishment used as a meeting place to eat, greet, drink and make merryment

Atmosphere:
A pinkish hue around the time of the crystal\'s phase from \"day\" to \"night\" (slight variences in colors and pattern) would enhance many a mood...
Crystal chips in the cealing of the cavern would surely absorb some of the crystal\'s great energy and re-emit it at \"night\"...also a mood enhancer for those late night rondezvous...

Jobs provided:
Flower / Gift shop operator
Jeweler
Cafe / Resturant / Tavern / Inn manager and staff

OK, you can all flame me now...:)

Ok, I\'ll start the flaming :D

If cats aren\'t supposed to percieve sweet flavour, do we have to extrapolate that enkidukais won\'t too?
Considering that all the marriages I\'ve seen so far have been between enkidukais, it\'s important that the \"marriage industry\" fits their needs, as they seem they\'re clearly a target group for them.

PS: /me remembers some cakes once Cherppow designed... ;)

hehe, i think its a good idea, kinda puts a little bit of gameplay like harvestmoon[farming sim] into it, not to mention, a lot of RP.

Look at the skill list, there is a skill called \"Gem Cutting\" (although it is inactive).

Knowledge is power, if you know how to apply it.

Thoronador: Gem cutters cut and sell gem stones to jewelers for mounting and retail sale. They generally do not make bracelets, ring or necklaces or deal with the fashioning of precious metals.

Though perhaps some do mount their own stones in rings etc., last I checked, jewelery maker/retail sales was a completely different occupation from gem cutter.

There are two types of people in this world: The Pinky and the Brain.
Which one are you?

I agree with the original post.  I was just remarking that there are no pickable flowers.  How can one build a sense of romance without the rose?  (Or some Yliakum equivilant)  The only thing I've found that can be picked is a mushroom.  While this might be useful for alchemy, it just doesn't have the style of a rose.

The only thing I found humorous about the original post was that some races in Ylakium MIGHT not find any of these things very attractive. Perhaps some of the races believe the most beautiful extension of love is to eat larvae of small insects, or to pick their noses/orifices, or welter in the mud together like common swine. It would be very stereotypical and shallow, I think, if we made every race behave the same as Humans.

Well, sometime ago, my dear Enki received a very nice mushroom bouquet! It was beautiful! It has a sour smell that is better that any "Rogue nº 5" or "Blue Crystal".

Until we get anything decent, there is a lot of possibilities! ;)

And you can always give your girl a big piece of platinum and tell her all about the life endagering adventures you had to do to actually be able to dig it for her! If you are an Enki, she will even appreciate it more, because she probably knows how frustrating it is to go the whooooooooooooooooooole way back to the mine in case you die on the stairs...  X-/

Spotting you!
