« on: August 22, 2005, 10:02:09 am »
at the top left of the screen there is usually an icon looking something like 2 V\'s.. they have dissapeared on me.
This icon usually brings up the main menus and I can\'t seem to work out what I have done to undo it, I really kinda need it back..
Can anyone please lend me habd with this?

The quickest way: delete files data/gui/control.xml and data/gui/control_styles.xml (make backup first!) and then run the updater. If it does not help, delete the whole \"data\" subdirectory  (make backup first!) and then run the updater, then if You have made any changes to your shortcuts, after running updater restore file data/options/shortcutcommands.xml from backup (and optionally other files from \"options\" subdir).
Probably You could also edit the file data/gui/control.xml and correct position/size of the window. Try it on Your own risk ;)

Thanks for the help with that one but is there a way that doesn\'t involve me removing important data-files off the program?

If anyone has had a similar issue could they let me know what caused it and how to prevent/stop it. If it\'s just a icon then shouldn\'t it just be a hotkey related to it?
please?

ps.  thank you for that help though.. I really do appreciate your assistance, I am just not that computer confident.

Somewhere on the hud you can drag the hud. Find it and drag it back into view.. you just haveto find the right place to click on thats not on a button. :D

I\'ve done this before.

Wired_Crawler, those aren\'t likely to be the problem files.  Delete planeshift.cfg then update and go into your setup program and reset your settings.  If that doesn\'t work, delete your \\art\\skins folder, and update again.  Post here again so I can know if this fixes it.

this one i think is the cfg file, a few pepople have to come to me with similar problems and telling them to edit the right place fixed it for those who responded after.
<Rux> i wish i could say that narrows it down, but the internet is one freaky place
