Zbrush isn\'t exactly a 3D program ;) More like a 3D painter. I believe there exist a few converters into actual 3D models, but I am not sure if they are 3dsmax compatible. I remember another artist posted his Zbrush work here before. This was it, I believe. Radiolarian also had the most amazing Zbrushed images of a Kran I had ever seen, though the pictures are down now. I believe the only coverters that exist may be for Blender.

But I\'m not sure :)
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Zbrush is used for modling in conjunction with quite a few other applications. Mostly used for refinement of base models, but it\'s capable of creating any number of models, compatable with Lightwave, 3ds Max, maya, XSI, Lightwave, you name it. Can output in a number of formats, create meshes as tri or quads, can create bump maps, normal maps, displacement maps, color maps.... Was used in quite a few films including Lord of the Rings, and several others. Does wonders with details, however it\'s best used with out programs for composition. Still getting used to it, as you\'ve said it\'s not like most apps.

My head just exploded from the awesomeness. Really, I don\'t know what to say. It\'s inspiring to say the least.

Decided I\'m done with the head, and it\'s time to move on to something else. Didn\'t model anything else, just took the first pose from the previous post (which I liked best) and painted in the rest with photoshop.

Nice work.  I\'ve only touched zbrush a tiny bit, but I\'ve got a gnomon dvd on it, as well as a couple normal mapping tutorials for max that use it.  It is very widely used for exactly that purpose (on top of it\'s use in movies, etc.).  From what I can tell it isn\'t quite as hard as it looks, but, regardless, that dragon head is still awesome.  Kudos.

That is absolutely stunning, and I don\'t know what to say other than...well...you don\'t happen to be working for Bethesda Softworks do you? The 3d-graphics are Oblivion-division, and your 2d-work is...umm...quite good, nice, fantastic, amazing, OUTSTANDING.

I\'m really impressed, and I\'m sure the developers share that thought.  :)

I\'ve got quite a few gnomon dvds, love that stuff. Prefer the analog dvds, and there\'s still quite a few on my wishlist. In fact, I finished up the dragon after watching one of Neville Pages dvds and it inspired me to just paint in the rest and mess around with it.

I only wish I could do this sort of thing for a living. What I do is far more sterile and uncreative. It pays the bills though.

Great stuff, Malloc. But how about modeling something out of PlaneShift? For example, how about a gorgeous Xacha or Lemur female? Go as high poly as you want. It would be great to use for a wallpaper of sorts or to replace the low-res artwork we have for each race on the main site. :)
