Guild recruiting and a new idea
« on: August 28, 2005, 08:53:48 pm »
I\'ve noticed a lot of the newer guilds are getting a lot more members than the older ones. So I was just wondering what you guys are doing exactly.
Do people just walk up to you and ask to join or do you stand in the plaza inviting anything with a heartbeat.

Furthurmore, if you do recruit in the invite everything with a heartbeat  meathod do you ever get actual worthy members out of it? I mean I did that once and I got like 15 members, too bad I never heard from any of them again...

Oh and I think we need a more effective way right here on the forums to list all the guilds, there was a thread like that but aendars never around anymore to take care of it.
So, I propose a subforum in which each solid guild gets a sticky thread. You cant make threads in the forum or anything, just a sticky thread for guild members to talk in and for new people to see how the guild is.

Cheers.:)

About the latter suggestion: did you mean a subforum for each guild? That is... insane, you do realize? :3

No, a subforum thats just stickied threads 1 for each guild. You cant make threads in it or anything. (edit: inother words 1 subforum with a lot of stickied threads)

So lets say Joe Guy comes along and wants to find a guild. Well here hed only see the ones that have recent posts in their threads. But, he goes to the subforum and t da a list of all the active guilds. He can look at the guilds info and ask questions right there.

I just think its more effective since the most recent threads for some active guilds are like 5 pages back by now.

How are you going to pick who gets a sticky and who doesn\'t though? What \'ll be the requirements for guilds to get one?

It \'s a nice idea but I \'m afraid there will be a lot of whining about it in the form of \"Why do they get a sticky and we don\'t?!\"

I agree with you Efflixi.  A sub forum with every active guild in a stickied thread.  Then you wouldnt have to try and look through 50 pages of crap not knowing which guilds are still active and which ones are not.  And basically there should be any guild... who is still active and has posted on the main forums of course.  And listed in no particular order other than maybe alphabetical.

Eh... I don\'t know if this is such a good idea. Kada\'s listing of guilds is quite suitable, once it\'ll be updated. As for every active guild deserving a separate stickied thread... I\'m not a fan for some reason.

But what about the ones that are wanting to make a guild? I think they \'re being disadvantaged even more with this, after the recent rule of needing 5 people. They aren\'t really a guild yet so they couldn\'t get their own sticky. However people that are looking for a guild will simply look at the sticky list instead of, like you said looking through 50 pages of crap.

I \'m probably playing devils advocate here but the suggested system isn\'t very new guild friendly in my eyes.
