A good $200 guitar amp
« on: August 30, 2005, 04:16:23 am »
Ok long story short I had an ipod it was stolen withmone insurance I got my y back and now I want to use the money towards a new guitar amp since mine is way less that decent.

So far I\'ve had my eye on this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=guitar/s=amps/search/detail/base_pid/482255/

But I want to see a few more options before I just jump out and buy this one. Any reccomendations?

Roland Cube 30 amplifier

Amazing amp, great distortions, great EFX and a seperate delay/reverb knob. I use it. See it in action in my song, which can be found here:
http://planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=18802&boardid=15&styleid=3&sid=8316c9f606b7d7aa5edb039667532b94

The best thing about the roland, is the JC Clean amp model. I also use the Mesa/boogie rectifier and black panel distortion, also bundled in.

Specs: 30 watts, 12 inch speaker, 20 pounds in a 16 inch package.
EQ: Bass/mid/treble, sperate Gain and Volume for the Lead distortion area. Lead distortion models include: Acoustic, Black Panel, Brit Combo, Tweed, Classic Stack (marshal), Metal (peavy) and R-fier (mesa/ boogie)

Has a 4 effect loop with Chorus Flanger Phaser and Tremolo
Seperate 2 effect Reverb/delay

Channels and effects ARE switchable with a foot switch

Auxiliary input for drum machines, keyboards , ect.

Headphone jack, and recording output.

225$ total price, available at guitar center (if you have one over there), Daddy\'s Junky Music, and any other major retailer.

What kind of guitar do you have anyways? Me got an ibanez sca220 :D

and you also might want to invest in the Digitech RP-80 EFX pedal, and then the Zoom 505, because 505 has insane distortions.

Yay for Wah Pedal Power!!!

No sorry no guitar centers here. Only this silly little store in hollywood called guitar center. Not to mention the biggest baddest one around. >:)

I\'ll check out the roland. I found another vox that looks pretty good too, not robins though.

This

So when i go to guitar center maybe this weekend ill try out what I find. That line6 still looks like the best to me though. Iv plugged my guitar into a 15 watt model and I was blown away at how clean sounding it was.

well ive heard some really good stuff about line six, so i guess that would be a good choice. (especially for the price.) but, if you willing to spend a little more money, check out some marshalls. and whatever you do, dont buy an amp without going to the shop and using it first.

I really dislike line 6 amps.  They sound too modern and sterile to me.  You aren\'t going to get much for $200, the best bet is to actually walk into stores guitar-in-hand and try everything in that price range.  Play before you pay.

If you live in Canada, check out a Traynor.
