Inwe: First, this project would be a huge undertaking and would take a very large amount of work. Second, Spanish (and other languages) will not be permitted in public chat (as has been mentioned). Therefore, unless you can speak English, you can\'t role-play with those around you and therefore there\'s no point for you to play the game. So, as odd2k said, learn English. Or don\'t play.

as I recall, at least one developer has hinted about the possibility of localized servers in the future. If this occurs, a translation already done or mostly done would be of great help to a packager.

If planeshift is not supposed to be played by anyone speaking a language besides english, why do we have a German manual translation and a French main web site translation (presumably they\'re working on translating the manual too)?

People who don\'t understand english very well or don\'t know about the english only in public channels rule can even be a hinderance to roleplaying... At one point in MB, some french player came up and started babbling at me... I couldn\'t understand, but he seemed to get angrier and angrier until he was shouting in all caps o.o

Clearly, that\'s the exception rather than the norm, but wouldn\'t it be easier to spell out the rules for people in their native language rather than have them mistranslated and misunderstood?

Anyway, that\'s my two tria on the subject

Localised servers... only if this solely refers to the server messages, not to splitting up the game world.

Agreed. A person who has trouble to speak english will be able to communicate reasonably, but technicalities and rules must be understood well but are more difficult to translate without good ability to speak english. Thus, a translation is alright if, and only if, it merely helps in using the client, not in segregating based on language.

Therefore, a big  to Catbytes.

I really really don\'t see the point of this. English is the one and only (ooc) language in Planeshift, and I\'m pretty sure the devs want it to stay that way.

Sure, I hear you saying \"but we will talk english, we just want the GUI translated\". Well having the GUI translated to ones native language will just work as a faulty suggestion that talking the same language out public is \"ok\". Seriously, if you don\'t talk English then we don\'t want you. I\'m sorry, but it has to be that way.

Then I believe that you would have to remove this Web:
http://www.planeshift.it/community_languages.html

Since my intention is single the one to help, or two or three days ago I sent to a mail to info@planeshift.it commenting the one of my translation and my disposition to help, but I do not obtain answer...

I believe in the \"not too distant future\" the planeshift will be a big project, but multiple servers (including spanish) & will be use the castilian patch, like another massive game plays...

But seeing the closed minds so that there is, I doubt that this project surpasses the English imperialistic phase.

Or you know, you could USE the rest of the game engine. Typing about how fine the imaginitive weather is can be done in any chart board, but going out and seeing the imaginative world in 3d is a different matter.

Oh, so now you are the messanger of the Devs? Where did the devs say that English was the only allowed language in Planeshift, hmm?

Besides saying, \"Speak English or get out\" makes you seem like an ignorant troll.
