« on: September 08, 2005, 09:33:04 am »
My problem: Screenshot (1.5MB) - This happens in every menu.
    I\'m using:
  • Linux inte 2.6.12-gentoo-r10 #5 Wed Sep 7 09:50:31 CEST 2005 i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
  • 384MB RAM
  • nVidia GeForce2
  • xorg-x11 v6.8.2-r2
  • nvidia-kernel v1.0.6629-r4
  • nvidia-glx v1.0.6629-r6
  • planeshift v0.3.011
  • cel v0.99_pre20050823
  • crystalspace v0.99_pre20050823
  • cal3d v0.11.0_pre20050823

Ahh, looks really ugly.

Did you use the Gentoo packages?

If not short on bandwith, try using the linux binary form the planeshift page and see if it still happens.
Typing and grammatic errors may be safely ignored, they come without charge ...

Yes, I did.

I\'ll give it a try. Tomorrow (due to my bandwith - ISDN) I will test it.

By the way... I\'ve tried the nv driver instead of nvidia and it worked, but (of course) incredibly slow. The newest version of nvidia-glx (v1.0.7676) no more supports GeForce2 GTS, so I\'m stuck with v1.0.6629.
Code: [Select]
(II) NVIDIA X Driver  1.0-7676  Fri Jul 29 13:01:02 PDT 2005
(II) NVIDIA Unified Driver for all NVIDIA GPUs
(II) Primary Device is: PCI 01:00:0
(WW) The NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS/GeForce2 Pro GPU installed in this
(WW)      system is supported through the NVIDIA Legacy drivers.
(WW)      Please visit http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html for
(WW)      more information.  The 1.0-7676 NVIDIA driver will ignore
(WW)      this GPU.  Continuing probe...
(EE) No devices detected.

FWIW, I have exactly the same problem on ubuntu with the latest
nvidia (7676) driver on a Quadro2 EXR (32M ram).
Cheers,
Olivier
