linux and mac 0.3.011
« on: September 12, 2005, 07:08:14 am »
(news taken from main web site)

The update to version 0.3.011 is now available also for linux and Mac OSX. You can get it from our download section.

In the past weeks, we tested some new features, including random loot on NPCs. Many monsters carry special items created from the base ones. For example you can find items like: \"Scorched Dagger of Twilight\" or \"Bear\'s Polished Dagger\". There is a wide range of adjectives, and each provides special effects to the weapon, making it unique. There are currently around 5500 unique weapons collected by players, thanks also to the fact that we have little control on the power of spawned weapons. We are working on it, adding some formulas that will make low level monsters spawn low level weapons.

Latest update included also a number of visual fixes on hydlaa level, and some additions to the magic shop.

Thank you devs for another update and all who worked to make it better.
I have only one concern about above weapons. Seeing how many people have them now it doesnt make the unique and i have seen already few swords of the same type. But this what really concern me is the huge difference beatwen old normal weapons and these \"unique\". I know a weapon can inflick much damage and have other hidden bad modifiers, but still it is many times better. In my eyes this breaks realism what in consequence spoils roleplaying as i have no given explanation how these weapons poped up and why there is so big difference beatwen one and another weapon.  The advenced tehnology usually gets comon in time, what dont allow for to big differences beatwen available equipment. And i\'m not fan of \"because it is magic\" because in this way everythink could be and i dont know on what i stand.
I have explained it a lot more detailed here: http://planeshift.oodlz.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=18714&boardid=13&styleid=3&sid=e2b52f7a7fac8bd7bc40646d1a8d1da6

Thank you

If you\'d searched and/or read recent threads on the Mac forum, you\'d know that we are aware of the bugs and that there is no solution currently. We are working on the issue, and we don\'t know how long it will take. Please be patient and watch the Mac forum for updates.

Good idea... Please read the stickies (there\'s one in the bugs forum pointing to Mac/Linux forums)... though I will admit, we really do need a sticky in Newbie Help pointing to the Mac and Linux forums.

I am new, just DL the game (3 hrs ago).  I am doing the updater and while it IS going, it has taken me 2.5 hrs to to get to 14% of the zip syncing.  I have DL the newest vers from the PS site and am annoyed at the \"update\" process.

If you release a new version, there shouldn\'t be a 2.5 hr update process.  Any\"tweaks\" you make in the game settings should be included in the game DL form your site.

The issue with the long download times is a problem with the fragnetics server which should hopefully be corrected soon.
As for keeping the binaries up to date all the time, this would be very impractical since changes are being made all the time. As bugs appear and are fixed, the repository is updated with new files. Packaging and uploading a new binary takes a long time, and since there is really only one Mac dev (dfryer), his time is much better spent working on fixing bugs than on keeping the binaries up to date for every minor release.

Ya all the updater files are downloaded perfect. The problem now is that the game itself sucks worse than any other text based game I have playd on the net in my life, Wish was by far the most superior game out there and it closed in January
