Why is the updater taking such a long time?

I got i question. Why does it take so long to update the game?

The updater usually takes a long time to download and merge the files, because the updates tend to be huge, since this is a pre-alpha testing game.
However, since two days, there is an issue with the update / game server, for which the reasons are not known yet.
Downloading the >80MB for the update will take extremely long due to that, so your best bet is to wait until it says on the thread it\'s resolved, which will happen eventually.

If it is know that the update takes such a long time is it not worth updating the current .exe so as it not so much of a duplication of effort.

Correct. The unupdated version still works, but it lacks some fixes for some highly annoying bugs.
If I had not updated before the trouble started, I would not update at this time.

Ok im a noob so im guessin here...In an old game (thinktanks) the   forums were sooo massively huge that it lagged up their servers, so maybe this might be this same thing? Just guessin =/

Forums are not connected with the server used for the client :)
