Hi everyone,

First, I am a newbie but I\'m quite familiar with forums so you can relax now :)

I\'ve read some of the posts here (rather quickly) and I\'d like to know if this game is a RPG like Diablo, Sacred or even Dungeon Siege.

If so, why is the game so small? I hear it\'s about 250 Mb?

More like Everquest, Ultima and stuff...

Also, it\'s so small because Planeshift is still in its early development.

also small because there is a nice juicey update waiting for you after you install... you\'ll love that bit.

a quarter gig small? i remember getting hours of gmeplay on 128k, or less. kids these days.

Yeah! no kidding!

It\'s till updating as we speak and it\'s been close to an hour now

True... but nowadays, games are getting close to the 2 gig mark (well, some of them)

EDIT:
Going on two hours now. The update connection is averaging 5kb sec. Oooh! my aching head...this is soooo sloooow.

Now I\'ve got a \"Ran out of mirror\" error message.

So! is this game any good?

Everyone who has remained will tell you that it is quite good indeed, because... well, they\'re here, aren\'t they? ;) The important thing to remember is that PlaneShift is in pre-alpha development stage, so server bumps, graphical errors, and bugs are rather numerous. Not everything is implemented, and what is, usually isn\'t implemented to its full extent. The key is to roleplay, to make friends with whom adventures of all types will be possible no matter the actual \"physical\" limits of the game :)

The update has problems of sorts... but mine for somereason was lucky and made it smoothly

and 2 gig mark/close

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH that makes me laugh

HL2 is like 3 gigs and Battlefeild 2 is like 5 gigs...

Yeah that\'s right...I forgot about Battlefield 2... it is incredibly huge.

Newer games now are on DVDs. I wonder how bigger they will get in the future.

BTW... my update is done and I verified the folder\'s properties and it\'s still around 264 Mb even after all the updates (unless the updates have been stored somewhere else on my system)

Now I need to wait until the server is back up for registration.

I\'ll see you all there 8)
