Various Problem
« on: September 20, 2005, 10:13:04 pm »
1)The Updater don\'t work because it open an error window...
What\'s wrong?
2)The Updater recover mode had download some file .dll (i think...) and after that a veeeeeeeery long list of same files:
\"Syncing zip..
Unmounting ZIP file $^art/word/akkaiko.zip..
Mounting ZIP file art/word/akkaiko.zip..
Merged  art/work/akkaiko.zip/cache/thing_lm/\"
This slash (thing_lm/) is followed by a long code of number and letter and it repeat this process again and again with the only variation of this long and strange code...
Is it normal? If yes when it stop?
I have tried to open the akkaiko.zip but it says me that the zip is corrupted...
3)I can\'t open the setup... i tried in all manner but windows refuse to open it... it don\'t give me any error but it don\'t respond at all...
What can I do?
4)When i try to run the executable of the game it gave me this error:
\"WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.kernel.vfs\'
Couldn\'t load VFS plugin \"crystalspace.kernel.vfs\"!
WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.font.server.freetype2\'
WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.graphics3d.opengl\'
WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.graphic.image.io.multiplexer\'
WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.engine.3d\'
WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.documentsystem.tinyxml\'
ERROR: Failed to load the XML parser!
ERROR: Failed to init Crystal Space for app!
Exiting Planeshift. Press Enter...\"
Where i can get this plugins?
Why i can\'t play this game?
Please, answer me!

Someone should temporarily stick an \"important\" label on the above post.

EDIT: Bad linked :P

I was gonna ask Moogie... but she\'s not arround apparently...

BTW, you cut off the board ID in that link; here\'s one that works :P :
http://planeshift.oodlz.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=19303&boardid=17

EDIT:
Yep, bad link now.  :P
Talad deleted it and replaced it with:
http://planeshift.oodlz.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=19400&boardid=33
Which has info on a new update server.

Well the updater still don\'t work...
I update 3 times with the Recover mode and still the setup don\'t work...it give me an error window...
Furthermore the game don\'t go even after the update. I have replace the older Vfs.dll with the one indicated in your post (that file have the same size however...why?).
When i run the executable it crash immediatly and says me:\"Something unxepected happened in Planetshift: Crystal Blue. Details: EXCEPTION_INT_DIVIDE_BY_ZERO at 6922F7BA. Woul you like to save a diagnostic file?\"
This is what the game told me...What can i do?

I would suggest uploading the dump files and waiting :\\
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I agree. The dump file has to be reported.
The exception, as it clearly states, comes from the fact of trying to divide an integer by 0, wich is impossible and then throws the exception.
If we\'re lucky the dump file will tell the devs where this operation was tried to be made, and then realize if it was a variable not correctly initialized or the function call is misplaced, but the fact is that, at some point of the code, this irregular instruction has been called.
To upload the dump:
1st Go to Planeshift directory and delete psclient.txt.
2nd Launch the game and make it crash, then select yes to save the dump file
3rd Go to http://command.no-ip.com/dmp/ and attach the dump file just generated and the psclient.txt

Ensure that you deleted the psclient.txt perhaps it\'s avoiding you to upload it if it\'s bigger than a certain size, so try to delete it prior launching the game and making it crash.
If you indeed deleted it, then, most probably there\'s a little issue with the website that should be gone in few time, you can try sending it another day.

I didn\'t think updating was still so bad, after Talad\'s sticky?
