I\'m sorry if I was misleading - the theme ragnarok would not work without anyone who has not download the ragnarok skin., and installed it with the instructions in this link.

The point I was making was that setting a skin with pssetup didn\'t seem to work properly.  If it didn\'t segfault, it would appear normal (including an accurate preview) but then not work ingame.  Changing the config file manually was all that worked - and changing it to something I ddin\'t want CVS or default - and then changing to the skin I wanted - was how I got it to actually load a skin.

:) I had to throw those iinks in up there - I couldn\'t resists.

Hm, thos warnings are being dealt with in CVS, so hopefully they won\'t be there by the next update. Not sure if something else might be going wrong, Xordan might know more, but you could check to be sure you are using the Default Skin and not CVS.

try deleting the file and running planeshift (back up the file somewhere else first just in case)

Is this the updater Chaos made?  It looks better than when I first tried it! - I have a qustion though - should I be just hitting update? There a re a few options for things like update all files and update individual zip entries.

This is the installer I made and the updater is just the updater...

And you should just have to hit update.

The updater wont update. Here is the error I get.

root@blackmumba:/usr/local/games/planeshift# ./updater
./updater.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libidn.so.11: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
edit: 5:30am
Ok, I fix that one just installed the lastest libidn slackware package. But now new error.

root@blackmumba:/usr/local/games/planeshift# ./pssetup
./pssetup.bin: /usr/lib/libpng12.so.0: no version information available (required by ./pssetup.bin)
Mounting skin: /planeshift/art/apps.zip
Skipping \'YesNo\' because it\'s already loaded
Current skin doesn\'t exist, skipping..

planeshift.setup.application:
  Application initialized successfully.
Error saving configuration \'\'.
root@blackmumba:/usr/local/games/planeshift# ./psclient.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libopenal.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I looked in the psclient.cfg and the skin is set to defult skin. I also tried to set it in the pssetup. But as you can see it would not save cofiguration and file permission are set for read, write and exe. Not sure about the libopenal.so file because I believe this is the sound and that appears to be off in pssetup. But it is early or late depends on how you look at it so Im off till tomorrow when I will try again.

O, by the way, can?t say how much I appreciate your efforts for us linux users. Keep up the good work, your the man xordan.

Edit: 23:10 Oct 24
Tried the r2 version and got new error.

root@blackmumba:/usr/local/games/planeshift# ./pssetup
Mounting skin: /planeshift/art/apps.zip
Skipping \'YesNo\' because it\'s already loaded
Current skin doesn\'t exist, skipping..

planeshift.setup.application:
  Application initialized successfully.
Error saving configuration \'\'.
root@blackmumba:/usr/local/games/planeshift# ./psclient.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libsmpeg-0.4.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Using Slackware 10 Linux 2.2.26

With the latest release (3.012P-r2.amd64) also libartsc.so and libsmpeg-0.4.so are missing here.

Hi, brand-new newbie here.

Type: Bug

Description: I downloaded and installed version 0.3.012, ran the updater, then ran psclient.  I encountered the following issues:

1) There\'s already a username (\"Vengeance\") and password (8 characters) filled in.  Definitely not mine.

2) When I attempt to connect to the server, I receive the message \"You are not running the correct version of Planeshift for this server.\"

I installed the 0.3.011 version into a separate directory; I get \"Fail 100%\" for Fragnetics in the server list, and \"The server is not running or is not reachable. Please check the website or forums for more info.\" when I attempt to connect.

I notice that in the 0.3.011 servers.xml file, it\'s trying to connect to port 7354, but 0.3.012 is using port 7777.  After some experimentation, both versions get the \"not running the correct version\" message for port 7777, and \"not running or not reachable\" for 7354.

I\'ve completely reinstalled both versions, with the same results.

System specs:  AMD Duron 1200, 512 MB, Debian 3.1 (2.6.8-2-k7 kernel)

Not positive here, just making a semi-educated guess, but I think some changes were made to fix some bugs after Xordan posted the 3.012 installer.  Therefore, we must wait for a new installer to be posted for it to work with the current server version.

Someone please correct me if I\'m off base here.  I was playing earlier in the day, before the server went down, and now I am also getting the \"You are not running the correct version of Planeshift for this server.\" message.

Edit: BTW that first 3.012 installer worked perfect for me out of the box. ( Kubuntu )

You may get the \"wrong version\" if you directly used the 0.3.012 installer, or updated with the mirror address. Change the \"updaterconfig.xml\" so that the active host ID is that of laanx again, there is a more recent version which is able to connect.
