Cannot install
« Reply #45 on: November 08, 2005, 12:44:09 pm »
Running SUSE 10
when I click the PlaneShift_CBV0.3.011.linux.x86-2.run file it starts to make my HD go nuts, then opens the file in Kwrite and says, this is a binary file if you save it will be corrupt, then it has a bunch of script info. Isn\'t it supposed to start the installer?

Hi all,

am running fedora core 4, and trying to update - when I run the hotfix download first I got a missing dependency - liblcms.so.1 - I fixed that with my package manager (yum).

Next run of updater I get:

[usul@ODIN PlaneShift-CBV0.3.0.12-r3-i686.tar.bz2_FILES]$ ./updater.bin
./updater.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.0.9.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

*edit*
its present in: /home/usul/planeshift/lib/libssl.so.0.9.7 and is linked to libssl.so.0 & libssl.so in the same directory
*end edit*

has anyone got any knowledge of where to look next?

many thanks,

tone_ :)

installer segfaults
« Reply #48 on: November 20, 2005, 09:10:40 pm »
When I run the 3.0.12P-r2 binary on an AMD64 Ubuntu Breezy machine, I get a segfault.

Both the 32-bit and 64-bit binary installers segfault immediately.

The 3.0.11 binary on the website does not do this.

Can anyone help?

I\'d appreciate an answer guys - was my post too stupid to warrant an answer? Please let me know if I should just try and compile from source and not ask here for help...

I have no idea what\'s going wrong there. You could try getting libssl through your package manager instead.

tone, you need to call updater, not updater.bin.

monchichi, planeshift does not use those directly (maybe the installer does?), so I would guess it is something wrong with your install of gdk or Xlib maybe.

monchichi: Installer itself is 32-bit, so it won\'t find the correct libs as they\'re 64-bit. But it shouldn\'t segfault. That\'s the OS\'s fault, not the installers I\'m thinking. You could try getting a 32-bit-lib package, although I don\'t know how in ubuntu. Works fine in gentoo and the version of ubuntu I use though, ver 4.something I think.

a strange thing.

Creating directory ps.cb.03.011.linux.x86-2
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing Planeshift Crystal Blue Version 3.011 relase 2.....Extraction failed.
Terminated

and if i want to extract the tarball manualy, it gives out an error.

If you have the

 Creating directory ps.cb.03.011.linux.x86-2
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing Planeshift Crystal Blue Version 3.011 relase 2....Extraction failed.
Terminated

error, then download from the first mirror, not the second.
It helped for me.

You should be using this version PlaneShift-CBV0.3.0.12-r-i686.bin not version 0.3.011

*edit to save a double post

Ah ha so I sweat blood and compile from cvs 3 times and as soon as I finish a binary is released :)
