I can guarantee you that not all incidents were dealt with, because I did not report all incidents.

I would point out that that sounds very... egotistical? As if you were the only one who was willing to stand up against the rogue GMs. Well, the fact is you couldn\'t be more wrong- every GM is against having a rogue GM as it makes our job that much harder. So any complaints are taken seriously. However, since it is the word of someone unknown against that of somone who proved themselves over months of close watch from developers, you need proof. And good proof.

There would be little point in a thread for complaints, you are welcome to email myself, Acraig, or any of the other developers. Keep in mind however, that we only have so much time, and actually working on PlaneShift is our goal here :)

Yanno Zanz ... one\'d start thinking you kept some of your complaints secret just so you\'d still have something to complain about when nobody does something bad to you :P

Ah, the typical answer to which my reply is always the same:

I don\'t care about the GMs, the point is to get it out of MY and OTHER FORUM READERS views.  People are going to continue to post it whether it benefits them or not.

To which the general reply is:

...

Not to be a jerk but this shows you don\'t even bother to actually read posts, which pisses me off.  If you reply to something read it.  I clearly state the intentions behind the idea in the same sentence, and yet it is always the same reply.

Why yes, I did say that complaints don\'t belong on the forum. They belong in Emails, or PM, or msgs on IRC. not in threads, even if they are hidden away, and defiantely not in the middle of the fan channels. There is no point in\"disccussion\" when most of the comments consist of saying how bad things that other people say sound.

See Drey, commenting on how good the GMs are doing does nothing if you are a GM yourself, it just opens up the door for people like zanzibar to repeat something they\'ve said plenty of times before that no one wants to hear again.

This is why it all belongs in one thread/area, I think it is safe to say the forum \"regulars\" are sick of it.

Indeed, People are probably tired of hearing how bad we GMs are. Taking flak is part of the job description for us, i guess. People tend to feel they are in the right, and minimize the transgressions they do when looking back themselves, so its easy even for people that did do something wrong to feel they were mistreated, and claim we abused our positions.

Many will probably only hear bad things about us, is it because we do not do our jobs well? Perhaps, we are still developing our skills, and there is a lot of issues to take in consideration when making a choice and often limited time to gather information, mistakes may happen, though we do try to learn from them, but it may also be that much of what we do is done well, after all, a well executed GM intervention should minimize disruptions to the game world, and so be invisible to most players.

But due to the way discussions of such topics have a tendency to become very heated, it has been decided that they should not be discussed at the forums or at the IRC channel. Any abuse by GMs should be discussed with the GMs or a Dev. Positive responses to our work, how ever appreciated, should also be avoided in the forums and IRC channel too.

Soo, please avoid threads about the deeds of the GM team, both good and bad.

\"In a perfect world we\'d have..\"

Hi, what is this?

Point or no point, as I once again clearly stated, it is going to continue to be posted here whether you or anyone else likes it or not.

I am not condoning the discussion of GM activities any more then they currently are...that is another argument.  Another argument is whether or not there SHOULD be a point, but I won\'t get into that either because there\'s no convincing some people and I can see the flaws in those arguments.

On the other hand I can\'t see the flaw in this argument.  An off-topic forum was created, what was the point of that?  It in no way adds to Planeshift, and yet it is there for people to POST what they would anyways.

Why am I typing this?  You have misconstrued my previous two short posts, I wonder what you\'ll get from this.

EDIT: \\/ Hah, Ook.  I won\'t bother anymore if you\'re not going to read my posts, at least until next time this pops up.  It makes for a boring discussion if you just repeat yourself.  Let\'s just say this makes me feel better about not playing Planeshift.

You seem to have misunderstood Kiern, so let me put it this way: all comments about GMs, all threads, even this one are going to be deleted or locked, end of the story. This is not the place to discuss because there is nothing to say.

If you have any complaints about GMs send them to someone who can actually do something about it.

Kiern is right, I agree with him, anyone who disagrees is wrong. End of story.

Edit just to justify my statement:
Kiern doesn\'t even play cb hence the forum exclusive in his sig. He\'s just saying qthat:
1) GMs cant call themselvs good, the players have to do it.
2) If a player says you\'re a bad GM and you say you\'re a good one, you\'re wrong.

Oh and just to add, many gms spam more than almost everyone else. More gms like josepheonix and elsha should be added since they act professional and mature. Now I\'m not trying to piss you gms off, I would probably suck as a gm since I\'m never in game and when I am I usually mess around more that everyone else combined. And I say I would probably make a good mod but then I would be a hippocrit since I just said a gm cant say hes good.

My only question is how are new players supposed to know who to contact?  Most of the people that complain are often new to the forums and they only come here looking for answers, with the exception of Zanzibar.  So, threads can keep gettting locked and deleted but that does not help the problem.  If you want to help people listen to them and get both sides then figure out who was in the wrong.  But the locking of threads is going to do nothing.  Another one will be here in. I dunno, next week.

No one likes to come here and have to answer questions about this on the forums anymore but those people that are newcomers will keep doing the same thing.  So to me a stickied thread or a sub forum doesnt sound bad at all.  It woudl be no more pointless then our PvP sub forum that no one goes to.  Its a tiresome arguement..

But if it were a stickied thread.. A person who believes that a GM has abused their power could post and then he/she woudl recieve an answer.  All spam from people who dont need to coment.. deleted.  I see no problem in that.  Its very disheartening to many who come here and read people constantly complaining about GMs/devs/ and soon to be mods.

Well in the future I hope we can come up with something more effective.

Haha, that was the part of the argument that everyone seemed to agree on...except I was saying anything positive about a GM is going to invite criticism, no matter who it is from...so people shouldn\'t get pissed when it happens.  The part with Drey I was just joking.

There is a stickied thread that tells new players how to deal with GM problems, but we all know too well how many new players read stickies. Even if it\'s the very first one in General Discussion, titled \"Important: How to Report Ingame Abuse\".

Not all GMs visit the forum, either, so a player posting some complaint dealing with such an individual wouldn\'t even find the GM here, to deal with.

Also, players who will have nothing at all to do with the incidents will not abstain from posting, no matter what. Saying that the mods will just have to delete off-topic posts is a little inconsiderate of the effort they already spend (alright, she spends... [can we get some more mods?]) to keep the place in a semi-decent state.

I thought that there was a channel for GMs and players only on IRC, but turns out I was wrong. I would actually love for such a thing to be created, since I believe it would be a helpful aid in all this.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

That is also a good idea Karyuu.. and if we ever needed it Im sure there are more people who volunteer their time to mod (points at himself but knows he has only been here a year). It would be nice to be able to brainstorm about a solution.
